My daughter is due to start a job on Halifax Road, does anyone on here use public transport to get to the part of Sheffield in a morning? If so do you use busses train a mixture of both trams? TIA
It’s a touch too far to walk in a morning when we enter autumn > winter, ideally I want to find her a bus route so it’s only a few mins walk from the bus stop
Thought there was a bus to Sheffield that goes through Birdwell and past Hillsboro into Sheffield? Could be wrong mind…..
I don't think there are any busses from Barnsley that serve Halifax road but there is a train from Barnsley station to chapeltown and then switch to the 86 bus which stops on Halifax road.
I've never known a Barnsley Sheffield via Hillsborough route however I'd check to see if stagecoach still operate a Bsly to High Green route if so buses from High Green run past Hillsborough Failing that, its a trip into either Sheffield or Chappeltown then another bus to Hillsborough unfortunately
If itsX17 you're thinking of Dave it goes to Birdwell then down motorway to Meadowhall then in to Sheffield bus station
Depends where on Halifax Rd. It’s not straightforward. Could be looking at a train to Chap and then a bus. No 2 / go to chap but not close enough. Otherwise it’s x17 to Meadowhall and a long tram ride. Ridiculous when it’s so close as a crow flies.
For me to do the reverse journey on public transport it’s the no 86 bus to Chap, train, and then Walk for 20 mins. Minimum travel time of 1 hour 10 mins, usually longer. For an 8 mile journey that takes me 20 mins in the car.
The Chap train then bus the least amount of time. Although tha could allus get up early and tek int car.
