Traveller Site in my village

Appreciate people don't know the ins and outs of this but in short, Selby District Council is trying to put a 30 caravan site in the centre of our village. The travelling community have stated categorically that they have no interest in moving into the centre of a village (especially one with no amenities!) as they prefer not to be "in a goldfish bowl". The whole decision is quite shady and the council do not seem to be accountable.
