Out for 0 after a couple of balls. Why do they persist with this STUPID idea that Trott is an opener, while leaving Adam Lyth kicking his heels again
Beyond belief that they didn't play him Trott has had his day and it's time for Moores and cronies to go too. Very, very frustrating..
Thing is when Trott gets dropped he probably still won't get his chance as Alex Hales is expected to be given a chance after already scoring over 500 runs this season in three matches.
Precisely. Good as the first win was (then again, it was only Worcestershire!) they have struggled in the last two and only got draws. They've got a great squad of players there but it is scandalous that England can take so many on tour and not even give them a sniff of a chance
Moores was a negative, uninspiring choice first time around - England ditched him and became world-beaters. So why have we gone back. I love cricket, addicted to it (playing tomorrow), but to be honest if I hadn't seen your post I would not have even realised we were laiking. And it's not only Moores that is a step back. Trott is too, as is talk of a KP return. I feel for Trott and his illness, but you simply cannot come back from that and we should not have taken a chance that he could do so when there is so much talent in reserve. It'll be a desperate struggle against the Aussies, and NZ will be no walkover prior to that. And I bet we end up blooding players for whom this tour would have been ideal. And the cynical side of me can visualise the chat in the Long Room between members and selectors prior to the tour / season. Along the lines of: "We can't be having another period of bally Northern dominance, what ?" "Le's get as many of those pesky Yorkies out for a jolly to the Caribbean as we can and let the Southern counties play catch-up in the CC". And what the hell the ECB is doing with Rashids career is beyond me. Third England tour as a tea carrier ........... ludicrous. And all that after a his best season last year after finally getting back on track after his first two "tours" Rant over
Doing their best to make the county championship more of a level playing field. Would love for Alex Hales to bring his one day and four day performances to the test format as an opener. One the opening morning of a test batting you'd want to be around the 100 mark by lunch. Someone like him on form could have opening bowlers struggling and the scoreboard on nearer 130-140 like guys like Warner and B Mac do for their countries. Something needs to be done at test cricket. Watch England batting in Barbados at around two and a half runs an over. Or you could have watched the IPL on the other station with a top quality high scoring contest.
