Purely subjective. In chronological order:- Trevor Aylott v Manchester City 1981 or 82 Clint Marcelle v Bradford City 1997 Darren Barnard v Huddersfield Town 1998 Adam Hammill v Oxford United 2016 Sam Winnall his second v Walsall 2016 Adam Hammill v Millwall 2016 I hate polls where the winners are all the most recent but I have to admit I've done similar there. I loved Sam's second against Walsall. Brilliant run, brilliant celebration, brilliant crowd reaction and it virtually killed the tie. I'm sure I've missed some. Anyone got any to add?
Against Middlesboro? Yep, that would make any highlights reel. Pity it wasn't in a significant game but what a goal!
Isaiah Rankin v Brentford 2003 - made sure it didn't get any worse, we might have been relegated again Scott Jones v Manchester United 1998 - twice Brian Howard v Liverpool 2008 Kayode Odejayi v Chelsea 2008
What about Larry Mays absolute blinder into his own net Also sorry but you can't have an iconic goals post without having King Ronnie on it!!
By iconic... my thoughts are an important or historic moment, a case of the underdog succeeding, or a significant moment of brilliance No particular order... just as they come to me. Archdeacon v Leicester (H), FA cup 3rd round, 35 yard top corner in last minute to equalise Cooper v Stoke (H), simple goal but the somersault celebration featured on FA cup highlights for some time afterwards Bullock v Leicester (H), unbelievable run, first goal for the club and arms aloft to the Ponty Eaden v Sheff Utd (H) (Sky match) to make it 2-0 Hendrie v Sheff Utd (A) to win 1-0 and top the championship Redfearn v West Ham (H) first ever premiership goal Marcelle v Bradford (H)... obviously ;-) Howard v Liverpool (A) Hammill v Oxford and Hammill v Millwall Barnard v Huddersfield (H)... unbelievable volley and racking up the biggest win ive seen Many more memories, but iconic is a hard one to define and the important moments we have had, havent always had fitting goals to suit.
I think Lloyd has been fabulous. I'd put it as heartwarming rather than iconic. But I'm absolutely chuffed he scored it. No player deserves a goal more.
I think if it were a video I'd have to fast forward the Odejayi goal unless it was entitled iconic crosses. I wasn't at that match, which doesn't help as I missed the atmosphere it generated, but, (lovely lad though I'm sure he is) I just can't reconcile iconic and Kayode being in the same sentence. Speaking of iconic crosses. Hourihane's for Izzy's goal on Sunday was perfection.
i think in terms of truly iconic it has to be clint v bradford. not the best goal we've ever scored by a long chalk but for what it meant at the time its the one for me.
