That half time penalty shoot out for kids How hard do they have to make it for the kids? There are over 1000 square yards of grass to go at, and yet, every single week, they put the nets in the same place, and then insist that the kids take their penalty from the touchline, giving them half a yard of run up. WHY? Is it so impossible to put a couple of cones out to identify the "penalty spot" / shooting area? One week, two smaller boys were taking pens. Neither could even reach, and yet they were still taking penalties from behind the line. I know that this isn't earth shatteringly important (well, except to the kids), but it is something SO basic it is unbelievable they get it wrong week after week.
Re: That half time penalty shoot out for kids I suspect they put the nets where the grounds man allow them to have it but I will pass on your comments to the organisers and find out
Re: That half time penalty shoot out for kids Cheers Gally... the campaign to give the kids a run up starts here!
Re: That half time penalty shoot out for kids Can you ask if there is any progress on the scoreboard please? I'm starting to think this is pie in the sky.
Re: That half time penalty shoot out for kids Don't worry, It's the number 1 agenda item! We'll get that run up a tell thi!
Re: That half time penalty shoot out for kids lol. I'm gonna have to think of something important now.
Would it be possible to organise some practical and appropriate traffic management from the club's official car park at the end of the game, please?
The fact they've recently chanted paedo songs at a manager as well as setting off flares/smoke cannisters? Just guessing, like. I'd take it steady on the ale if I was them. I speak from experience. I too was a bit of a lovely person at their age. It's not clever. Honest.
Re: That half time penalty shoot out for kids I told you it was No1 agenda item. So important we got together the top bods on run ups at Oakwell in the last five minutes and here's the response! First and foremost. The groundsman indicates the area to use. We can’t usually go any nearer to the Beckett Stand because that area of the pitch is the wettest and gets least sun which during the winter period is a major consideration, we can’t go further towards the centre because on occasions that they use the sprinkler system we will get wet. We also have to fit in around both teams subs warming up, the players have priority on the pitch. We have gone a bit nearer the Beckett stand and turned the nets around a bit when disabled supporters have taken part. It is not true that the kids always take penalties from the touchline I try to get a feel for how well the kids kick the ball before finally deciding exactly where to put the ball and sometimes they have taken the penalties from different positions if the kids aren’t equally matched which is something I try to do but is not always possible. We also try to get a bit of a balance i.e. not too far away that they never score and not too near that they always score 5 every week. I never know how ‘good’ the kids are at kicking a ball until we get there. The home supporter generally applies by email or phone and the away supporter is picked from the crowd 30 mins before kick off. Yes they can be close to the line or on it but there is enough room another factor is the kids don’t wear football boots so can’t always give it a 100% kick. We don’t always get it 100% right but we try.
Is it just that corner that acts the ****? Plus wasn't the flare three months ago and only happened once? There's a fine line between sorting it out and having a go at young lads. Just interested if the club and Doyle have got any info/complaints to justify it.
They aren't the only ones who can be cnuts, no. In fact, they don't annoy me half as much as the moaning basterds who never owt positive to say. The flare (cannister/firework/nuclear warhead) was about three month back, aye. I'm not suggesting I know the answer to your question, just guessing. I can only think of that incident, and the paedo chants the same day. I was sat near thee that afternoon. Think someone was injured weren't they? I dunno. But that I reckon could be why security has been stepped up. I could be wrong. I was sat just a bit further down from the lads in question the other week, and a lot of them look under 20 to me, and clearly pissed. They don't bother me. I like the fact they get behind the team. In fact, back when I was a ST holder in there, I saw plenty of em thrown out each week. The stewards always seemed to be up there ejecting some of em. I think it's down to alcohol in part, and the odd steward being cnutish as well. Have you thought about emailing the club/Doyle? Perhaps do a piece in WSB about it? I'm sure there'll be a few posters on here who form part of that group of youths and might be able to fill you in on it...?
Can you ask Ben to ask Danny to ask Boro if they want to lend us their number six? Cheers. Free tickets and that.
'Trust meeting' ?? does Ben have to stand on a chair and fall backwards and everyone else catches him
It has been suggested by several parties that we are being routinely sent inexperienced match officials, as our games are deemed not as important as those further up the league. Can Ben please look into this and assess if we are indeed being allocated an unfair quota of rookie referees and linesmen?
Aye he`s only been here six months and there is already Trust issues. Even The Don got longer than that.
