But some apologies are needed from the players and coaching staff after that showing today. No fight, no grit, no coordination, no common sense, no organisation, utterly horrendous. The maner of this defeat could derail our play off push. The players need hauling in tomorrow and made to sit through and watch this game. they should be ashamed.
How do you explain away that defeat can,t wait for the managers reply ,well I,m afraid today we were just ****.
I get that mate and I've actually been really positive on here for the most part but it's the manner of the defeat for me. I can't remember a performance as bad.
In my opinion it was all started by the tactics. Pissing about at the back again, no attacking movement meant that they could play the patient game and hit us on the break time after time. The scoreline wasn't but the result was inevitable from the first minute onwards and then we were made poorer and poorer with each sub that he made.
TBF it's been coming, we've either got out of jail or Roberts has bailed us out, let's hope we hurt and use it to have reset and move on. 4231 please Mr Collins crying out for a clean sheet we are getting sussed out very easily at the min
McAtee and Cole have gone off the boil, of late. Cosgrove, as personified by his late missed tap-in, has not even reached a simmer.
We either crumble and slip out of the play-off picture following this horror show, or use the humbling experience to re-group, analyse, speak openly and honestly as to what went wrong and what has to be done to get back on track. Hysterical and petulant calls for the manager’s head, having a go at the players and flouncing around in a strop will serve no positive purpose. It happened. We are still in the hunt. Let us go again and see where it gets us and leave the recriminations to the season’s end.
3 of their goals they just ran through us and none of the defenders wanted to make a tackle. Roberts should have done better with that shot from distance. 4 out of the 5 goals were easily preventable but players failed to do the basics.
You don't need to engage in recriminations in order to apply the observation that we were well and truly thrashed today by a vastly superior opposition. The conclusion for me is that we simply aren't good enough for automatic. Maybe good enough to get in the play offs if most of them turn up with their saturday best, but that's your lot. A few of our players have gone off the boil. They are for the most part too inconsistent, and the manager can't be blamed for that. Lincoln were way better than us.
