Actually the Turkish fans are chanting a common Turkish chant that is used in remembrance services and is derogatory towards terrorists.

Are the boos actually people booing their interruption?

Seems strange them booing if that's what it is when they have been plagued with terrorists themselves amid massive demonstrations from the Turkish people condemning ISIL?

Different cultures have different customs for things like this.

It's like in Italy they do applause rather than silence

In England we have a minutes silence, Italy a minutes applause and Turkey a minute of boos as a mark of respect .... ok

Turkey wasn't booing, they were chanting which is their custom. The opposing fans, misunderstanding, then booed their chants. Or so I understand it.

    I didn't say that.

All I meant was I wasn't surprised both countries being insensitive to the situation in Paris.

Oh and those sticking up for the Turks after this; I've seen the videos from different angles of the ground and there is no respect in what they did tonight.

Not true, not according to a Turkish journalist that has just been on the radio. He has said the minutes silences was hijacked by nationalists and that there is a real sense of shame and embarrassment in Turkey about the booing and chanting.

Nearly 100 people were killed by a bomb in Ankara last month, so its not like Turkey is unaffected. However, Turkey is known for its football violence and the fixture was in Istanbul so could also be some regional issues coming to light.

And the Roman Catholic country, Republic of Ireland, also failed to uphold the minute silence on Monday.

The Turkish team manager, Fatih Terim has admitted that they were booing and has criticised the people doing it. They have to be expelled from the Euros. Can you imagine what might happen if France and Turkey were drawn in the same group after this?
