Yes I agree. A mate of mine, first time he's been in years and a new season ticket holder, commented on how bad it looked and that they were way too small anyway.
I don,t see what the fuss is about Televisions turned on or not, listen to the radio before entering the ground for team news etc , watch the game count how many goals are scored so you know the score, listen to the half time scores , check phone if need to check scores elsewhere during the game , end of game we win lose or draw , then go home and watch the Tele. all the fuss about TVs turned on or not , really ?
So let me get this right. There is a multi million pound business in the entertainment industry who has thousands of customers visiting and has a network of televisions all connected up and just need turning on. But you reckon it makes more sense for the business to simply tell its customers to instead listen to the radio before arriving, use their mobile phones to connect to outside services and use other means themselves of entertaining themselves? Is it 1615 or 2015?
I wish people would stop saying football is an entertainment industry, it's a participation game, I watch barnsley because they are my home town club and (to me) represent my home town I don't think I wasn't entertained today I demand a refund like its some sort of movie or scripted show! The players don't cross that white line on a Saturday or Tuesday with the sole purpose of entertaining me, they have a job to do and that's get the 3 points by any means Sorry to rant but I find it annoying. When people demand to be entertained, it doesn't work like that it's not bloody Swan lake Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Because why spend money on new TVs to not have them on? It's really lazy when it's just turning a TV on. Also a few seats had bird **** on today. Dunno if they haven't been cleaned all post season or they have but too long ago rather than waiting until this week but someone needs to go around, check them and give any with marks on a clean.
The players are there to win, they are sportsmen. The club as a company are however in the entertainment industry. People go to matches to be entertained and while the entertainment value of the football cannot be guaranteed the entertainment value of the rest of the experience bloody well should be.
And what kind of (seemingly new buzz word ) 'experience' was available in the 70s 80s and 90s may I ask? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I didn't go to games in the 70s or 80s but in the 90s the programmes were more interesting to read (in my opinion). Our mascot was far, far more interactive with the fans and actually provided entertainment. These days you hardly notice he's there. The club had a radio station that you could listen to free of charge on your way to and from the game and even within the stadium itself. The signage in the concourses was new and current. The stadium announcer provided entertainment rather than simply reading from a script (seemingly). The clubs theme tune was timed well so that it built and got the fans going before the players entered the pitch as opposed to being played at 600 decibels for 20 minutes before anyone arrived after the ******** announcement of 'the players are in the tunnel and the referee is completely ignoring them as he walks past them to knock on an empty dressing room door" or the other usual one which is to have players already on the pitch when someone gets round to pressing the button to start the dreadful countdown theme tune crap. In essence the technology that we have at our disposal today wasn't available then but what we had we made the most of. Something that sadly cannot be said today.
Fair enough I see what you mean in your points, just see things differently that's all although I do agree with the radio point, was good listening to oakwell am going to end coming away from the game and Toby was quite amusing although they weren't the reasons I came and wouldn't be the reason I didn't return Opinions eh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Club clear won't invest up to £100k to bring Oakwell to 21st century as every fan expects money to be spent on players. I'll forgo another player for a new look.
Well were they On or Off? Never look myself cos I am not that interested. If off, then which ones were off?
What do you go to Oakwell for? To compare the width of pitch, or how many TV'S are on or how many weeds are on the pitch itself or to support the team?
Normally I go to be entertained but have had precious little in the way of that over the last few years. Look forward to meeting you next week assuming your going
I go to the cinema to watch a film but I still would get pissed off if I had to sit in seats that had bird **** all over them, it had unpainted bare plaster/breezeblock walls and signs advertising films that are 16 years old (admiral signs badly painted over) etc. etc.
