AND ? If he'd said that out loud to someone in authority he would still have been prosecuted. Why should people be able to hide behind their keyboards and spout stupid ****. Similar to this guy who tweeted he was going to 'Destroy America' before going on his jollies. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16810312
He deserves whatever he gets. Just because he made the threat on twitter doesnt mean it doesnt count. Im sure nobody would have any sympathy for him if he had written his message on paper and posted it to the airport. Exactly the same in my opinion
If he had sent a note to the Airport authorities saying he intended blowing it up ,then yes that is a direct threat, but he didn't. If you apply this ruling to this BBS half the contributors would be arrested on a daily basis
Why? Have half the member of this board threatened to blow up an airport? What if he was stood in the airport and said it? Had he posted this on twitter and the authorities had not done anything and the airport had been blown up there would have been hell to pay. So therefore his posting had to be investigated, so you say he was having a joke - well the result of that "joke" was to divert resources to investigate that it was only a joke. So I think it's far enough that he was fined as a deterrent to others not to be so stupid and divert important resources.
Mario Kempes best get ready - he's offering to financially support an unlawful killing. Isn't that terrorism? http://v2.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthread.php?163884-Its-easy......&p=1091168#poststop
Don't know if you saw about the Twitter pair last week... Couple of kids quoted Family Guy (digging up Maryiln Monroe) and said they were going to "Destroy LA" (as in party). They landed, spent several hours havinig orificies searches by Homeland security and deported the next day. Next made it out of the airport. Probably best not to even joke on Twitter now!
thats one way of looking at it or : 'When the snow fell he tweeted to his 690 followers: "Crap! Robin Hood airport is closed. You've got a week and a bit to get your **** together otherwise I'm blowing the airport sky high!!" Theres a specialist unit somewhere thats got far too much time on their hands.....
To be fair, they received a complaint from a member of the public which they investigated. The problem then is that the CPS wanted to prosecute even though the Police took it as a joke. So, is the problem the law, CPS or that f.cking numpty who reported it?
Or would there have been the outcry over the conviction if he wasn't? It all seems a bit ridiculous to me, over indulgent legislation applied over-zealously. Good job we've got human rights legilsation to challenge it!
