Obviously Daggers has taken the plaudits for his part in the game but I've not read or heard any praise for Stephen Dawson. He is quickly becoming my favourite player with his tenacious displays and never say die attitude. Virtually a captain but without the armband. More than capable in this league and really looks up for the fight. Glad he's had some recognition. http://www.football-league.co.uk/ch...championship-team-of-the-week_2293322_3038317
I love Stephen Dawson. Have done from the day I first saw him. Daggers, I loved initially, then lost hope in him as a goalscorer/creator. But then came Rochdale on a sunny August day and he's been my hero ever since. To put it in perspective... I witnessed Howard's goal at Anfield, Odejayi against Chelsea, Hendrie at Bumhole Lane, Hignett at Wembley, Redders against West Ham, and of course Marcelle's goal against Bradford. But I went absolutely barmy when Daggers got that second goal on Saturday. I think only the Danny Haynes second at Bumhole Lane comes close for the way I celebrated it. It just meant so much. And I hope to God he now finds the net on a more regular basis.
Yeah I was chuffed to bits for Daggers. When the ref awarded the penalty I was shouting for him to take while others around me gave me the Daggers (no pun intended). But for him to then go up the field and get another was just great. It can only be a good thing for the team and him as an individual. Now that monkey is off his back lets see what he can really do.
I agree. As it stands, I'd give it Daws, with only Mellis coming close. Stones young player no matter what happens.
Dawson quite rightly receives a lot of praise on here. I think most people see how important he is to the team and I seem to recall that there was a post recently about 'player of the year' and he was mentioned quite a lot.
