2 goals in the last 6 ganes

and one in the last 2

I dont agree with the tactic of playing for a point and hoping to nick all 3 away from home - though I can see why me might try it - it has worked at least once this season

The idea of playing for a point at home and hoping to nick all 3 is indefensible though - that will drive the fans away

Remember when earlier in the season playing 4-4-2 with Disco and JCR giving width we created chances but had no one who could hit the target

Now we have some strikers no one knows if they are any good because we are playing effectively a 7 man defence with just JCR in a creative midfield role. The opposition know he is our "star" man so put 2 players on him - job done

We will be lucky to score more than 7 goals in the remaining 14 matches if the last couple of games are anything to go on.

Glass half empty for me mate, sorry

Woeful performance and failure to score at home against the team lying at the bottom of the table. Only one worthwhile effort on target (from Hammill) in the entire game and, with ten minutes left, we seemed to have settled for a draw, taking into account the lack of urgency from the players.
Considering all the performances and scores so far in 2009, I fear the Wednesday result is giving the impression of a flash in the pan.
We are deep in a relegation battle and certainly need to start to upping our game if we're to maintain our Championship status. On yesterday's showing, it's going to be very difficult.

...I was thinking we'd be safe with the new signings. I was thinking we'd be usingour wingers and serving our newstrikers properly, scoring a few and pulling clear of the drop. I'd seriously underestimated Simon Davey's ability to get the worst out of his players.</p>

And then, to top it all,

Launching the ball high in the air to our two new strikers, one five foot nothing, the other openly admiting heading isn't one of his strong points.
Squeaky bum time for everyone for the rest of the season, even those who wear these.

Tactically inept....sums it up... and with JCR reverting back to type...(get the ball flash your legs over the top of it until the chance has gone) after teasing us on Tuesday by showing us that he can actually do the right thing...ie run at defenders.. and shoot...and score... we are back blaming the wind... Davys` inability to change anything untill the 60th minute at the earliest is a joke.... if its not working kicking the ball as high as we can for their blonde 6" 6` defender play it on the ground.... play in triangles..... use Miffys speed.. play the ball in the channels..... if Davy doesnt understand what I have just written then he shouldnt be in charge....

    We have the players we are failing with the tactics.!!!!!!!!!!!! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

We are no better than we were when ritchie was sacked apart from we now don't even try to play football. We have better players now but the performances and results are the same.

Question: if the players throughout the squad are of a higher caliber than they were when Davey took over but the performances and results are poor, who's fault is it?

Positives and negatives.......... but mainly positive...... we also have games in hand

    The positives, here goes.

    1. We have 4 new players in the squad. All of whom I feel will prove to be key to survival this season.
    2. two clean sheets in last two games.
    3. 4pts from last two games.
    4. We have games in hand on most of the teams around us.
    5. Hassell, Moore and Foster have looked solid in last two games.

on paper I'd be happy with all of the above, however the Negatives.

    1. Negative tactics at home against the worst team in the league.
    2. Not playing to our strengths. In my opinion our strength this season has been wing play, but for some reason we have reverted to playig a narrow midfield with our most effective wide player (JCR) playing in a central role? can anyone explain this.....?
    3. JCR & Moore suspended for next game.
    4. Van Homeot is weakest link, and distribution is poor. If Kozluk is fit he must play left back for me, one footed Van Homeot just ain't cutting it for me.
    5. JCR's worst performance a Reds shirt yesterday, looked lost in his central role. GET HIM BACK ON THE WING!!!!
    6. Anderson has ability, but his awareness is shocking gives posession away far to easily.

Yesterday big opportunity missed. Hopefully one that won't cost us in the long run. We need to be more positive at home and play to our strengths.
I'm not to downbeat as we have games in hand but we need to make them count! Next week I feel team should be:

    Muller

    Hassell, Foster, Souza, Kozluk

    Devaney, Colace, Andranik, Hammill

    Bogdanovic, Mifsud

Subs: Steele, Van Homeot, Butterfield, Anderson, Macken

Simple 4-4-2, with wingers! Andranik needs games and Anderson needs a wake up call so that is why he has got the shirt. QPR & Palace both have dismal away records this season I am just hoping we book our ideas up and take advantage. I also feel Sheff U game could be interesting, always unpredictable these local derbys and never without some controversy.

    my predictions:

W - QPR (H) - poor away from home this season, if the lads are up for it I feel we can take this one.
L - Cardiff (A) - we never get anything from ninian park.
W - Coventry (A) - very unpredictable this season, just hope we can turn it on.
D - Birmingham (H) - had a few slip ups against the lower placed teams, just hope it continues against us.
W - Blackpool (H) - unpredictable but have had a slip in for since Simon Grayson departed.
D - Derby (A) - another unpredictable side. Could we do another double? I'd settle for a draw
W - Forrest (H) - relegation dog fight, they won on home turf I just hope we do the sam.
D - Sheff U (A) - unpredictable local derby game. Always surrounded by some controversey.... not the same side without beattie. I'd settle for a draw.
D - Watford (A) - picking up under new manager, question is will run of form continue? could go either way
D - Swansea (H) - Provin to be a tough team to beat, we almost had win at their place. I'd take a draw at home.
L - Reading (A) - Good side, but hopefully will have sealed promotion and taken their foot off the gas. If not I don't hold much hope.
D - Wolves (H) - As with Reading, may have promotion in the bag and take foot of the gas. could be good time to play them.
D - Plymouth (A) - This could prove to be the biggest game of the season, and potentially seal our fate. Talk about relegation dog fight!!!

Total from remaining games = 19pts
Total points for season = 55pts and finish 18th/19th.

RE: Positives and negatives.......... but mainly negatives.............

Positives..........Mifsud and Bogga look good. Some good touches by Bogga and the speed of Mifsud was frightening the Charlton defence. If we had scored one goal Charlton would have had to come out of defence and we may then have got a hat full.

Negatives..............for some reason De Silva was off the pace. I like to see JCR in the middle but Charlton packed their defence so Davey should have changed things by going to a 442 sooner than he did.
JCR seems to think he has to do everybodies job on the field and was popping up all over the place when really he should have stayed forward of the middle 3.
The front two were often isolated with about 6 to 8 of their players stood round them when we were attacking. JCR, De Silva and the Iranian guy should have pushed up further than they did when we were on the attack.
Charlton are bottom of the league but were better than Barnsley. Charlton should have won the match.
Worst match I've seen at the WELL so far this season.

We needed someone to unlock their packed defence. Dare I say (and I hate the *******) someone like Brian Howard (playing like he did last season) would have been good against Charlton.

Johnny you`ve missed the Palace home game out of your predictions.

Do you really think we will not lose another home game this season?

Do you seriously believe we will only lose 2 of the last 14 games???

We have to play the top three FFS and two other teams who will be in the top 6
