1 - It's a good job the players are showing more positivity and a better attitude than the mouthy minority on here this pre-season. 2 - Thankfully, when you get to the matches you realise that the miserable sods on here, who like nothing more than moaning, are not reflective of our wider support, who actually want the manager, players and club to do well.
1. b@ll@cks 2. Total b@ll@cks Who are these people who think Davey is doing a good job ? a few on here.
You are wrong. This place represents the opinions of around 85% of Barnsley fans. Or so some on here would have you believe.
RE: Where does he say that? If thats all he's saying why does he think people on here don't want them to do well ? The majority of fans that I know, who don't read this BBS,want us to win every week, they know we won't but want a manager that can give them the impression, hope, that better times are to come......they don't think Davey does this. We are a week away from the start of the season and Davey is still giving press interviews saying we've done well to stay in the division,no wonder, with that attitude, its difficult to get players to come.
lol what are we basing these percentages on??? 85% & 90% how many members on this site couple of hundred. must have 9000 Barnsley fans turn up on match plus the 100's around the world, but 85% agree with you?
Liar Top ten. Butterfield the new Redfearn. Tottenham pay £3 million for him in January. Sodje top scorer.
I think, that like a fair few, he's a bit tee'd off with the negativity. To read some of the comments, you really get the idea that people would like to see us fail, just to prove they are right about SD, the team etc. Okay, we haven't been beating Real Madrid, but the results have been promising. I don't want another season like last, that is for sure, and if things look bad by the end of September, I would be looking for changes as well. But I'm willing to see what the season brings, before I start shouting for change.
Ok Do you think the views on this 'moan-a- thon' represent 85% of Barnsley fans. They don't represent the views of the fans that I sit near.
Given the last two seasons I'm surprised there isn't more negativity. Lets hope Davey has learnt some lessons but I must say his press utterings recently are like a stuck record.
Errrrrr......let's think Won 9 games in a row Kayode "goal machine" Odejayi playing well and scoring Young players coming through and doing well Extra parachute money coming in Decent season ticket sales Sound finances compared to a lot of other clubs Iain Hume almost back from injury Extra SKY TV money Reduced prices for season tickets Extension of the free U11 season tickets to U12's Generous, wealthy but sensible owner You may not agree with all the above, but you can't claim there is nothing to be positive about. Mind boggling.
RE: Errrrrr......let's think And even if they don't want to feel positive about any of that, there's no need to be so vocally negative before a ball has even been kicked this season. It doesn't have to be one extreme or the other. Too many people are sitting with their fingers over their keyboards waiting for something to happen so that they can try to find the bad points in it. They've even managed to find bad points in the Supporters Trust arranging the open meeting with Simon Davey and Patrick Cryne. We had all the moaners last season talking about the Supporters Trust as some sort of secret society, when of course it is available for all supporters to join, yet when a meeting is arranged with the two most important people at the club, they still find fault. Look at the grief young Sodje got when he signed. All because he came from a lower league club. Yet he's actually showed some promise in the games he's played. Course, within a transfer window, the club's ambition, etc, is directly measured by the amount of signings we make. What we have done this summer is get rid of some of the dead wood, get a good price for Heinz Muller, bring in young players (and signing some of our Academy players on to full contracts is a positive move) and bring a coach in to work with the youngsters and develop them, hopefully, into first team players. The moaners on here have always gone on about our lack of home grown talent, yet when the club tries to address this they instead want us to throw the cheque book around like Forest or the Blunts. Where would that get us? The club, like most other clubs in our position, have to be careful with who they sign and we will be working to bringing in the right players on the right terms. If we don't sign anybody, could it simply be that we weren't able to get the right players on terms that suited the club? That doesn't necessarily show a lack of ambition, but instead shows some common sense. Money isn't really the issue anyway, as we showed when we offered the terms to Kevin Phillips and as we have showed by securing the likes of JCR on new contracts, but we still have to ensure we don't pay over the odds for players that aren't necessarily going to improve the squad. I thought that us pulling out of the Jamie Ward deal sent as good a message as any of the decent signings that we made, i.e. we are not going to be held to ransom by greedy players and agents and will do deals that are good for us. But seriously, if they have nothing positive to say, at least make the criticism constructive, rather than coming out with the same old nonsense time and time again. Otherwise everyone will end up as bitter as our friend Dragon Tyke!
