Discussing either of these..........which is the worst?

There are similarities of these two subjects

Boxing is two men (usually) wanting to kick the living daylights out of each other
Hooliganism is tribal..........where there is rarely any physical contact

So I would say discussing boxing is the worst of these options..........its brutal...........its horrible

Even after a ban you're still lauding hooligans, there really is no hope

Random shoppers/folk going for a quiet pint/spectators very rarely accidentally get caught up in the middle of a Chisora bout.

To be fair, I did accidentally become heavyweight champion of the world by getting into a fight with Michael Spinks. Honestly, gone are the days when you could walk down a street wearing overly-long shorts and boxing gloves without someone having a go at you for having the wrong colour gumshield.

Which is worse - racist abuse or flicking someone's ear on a really cold day?

Racist abuse is just words but when it's really cold and someone flicks your earlobe it proper stings.

There are no similarities whatsoever. Boxing is a legal sport, hooliganism is a crime and a cancer within the game.

That's because boxing is seen in society as acceptable, like bear bating used to be, while talking (TALKING) about football hooligans is seen as unacceptable.
Your comments are just following the line set down by present day society.

What I am saying is - boxing should be viewed by society as unacceptable.

Just because something is legal doesn't make it right.

Boxing is seen by some as unacceptable and they are entitled to their opinion (I happen to disagree with them) but regardless of any medical, social or moral argument Boxing remains legal. What you have to remember is that boxing is governed by a controlling body, follows strict rules, is quite tightly regulated medically and in most cases is fair. None of the above apply to hooliganism.

Boxing IS seen as unacceptable by large chunks of society, but its legal and participation is optional hooliganism is seen as unacceptable by anybody with a normal working brain.

2 professionally trained men, who have agreed to the fight and it's rules, fighting a specific discipline, in a controlled environment with doctors present.

Or a bunch of grown men kicking the **** out of each other for no apparent reason, getting nothing in return other than giving their 'club' a bad reputation.

That's how I see it anyway.

I've seen 3 hooligan films, they all end badly. In ID (the worst film I've ever seen by the way) the copper gets corrupted and becomes a skin head. In the football factory, Zebedee gets shot in the face and in Greenstreet, Petey get beaten to death by the angry guy who plays 'Wacko' in Mike Bassett.

All the Rocky films end on a high note.
