Two very good full backs...

... and about time too! Davey could not figure it out in 2 and a half years in the job that our full backs were not good enough, Robins comes in and almost immediately gets in too very good full backs for this league from what I have seen in the two home games. The defence looks so much stronger with Dickinson and Shotton at the back with big Daz and Fozzy looking more relaxed. Hope we can keep them for the season at least. The only downside is that I can’t see either of them signing permanently as I think that both can play for a top 6 team in this league and quite easily at that!

 

Fully agree, both players have made a big difference in the two games this week. To be fair to davey, I don't think they were necessarily the areas in greatest need of improvement over the time he was here (at different times, centre back, midfield and strikers were probably bigger priorities), Bobby and Kozluk (prior to this year) were decent enough and fought for the cause better than most.

The difference for me is their mentality. Both Shotton and Dickinson are keen to get forward and their distribution is good (Dickinson especially put in some excellent crosses today), but more importantly they are strong in the tackle and positionally sound. The team looks SO much more balanced all of a sudden, and credit needs to go to the manager for that as much as the players themselves.

 

If Foster gets any more relaxed he'll be asleep!

 

I think Fozzie needs to find another 15% to be fair but the new lads are great, and the way they appreciate the fans is something else.

Yh been impressed with both. But Shotton in particular, he looks a real talent. Built like a CB but can play and run like a full back. Both of them get forward well, and they have added to our all round physical look under MR. We might actually be able to knock Sheff U about this season, for a change. We didn't play great today but I thought a professional performance again, and we look like a strong side, these 2 lads (and Doyle) have a lot to do with that, strength, pace, power. Can't see us losing many with that back 4, Steele, and Doyle in the midfield. Add Halfredsson and we look very strong defensively. We need to get them all sorted for the season at least.

Jesus, lets slow down and give Mr Robins a bit of time! We were bottom of the league 3 weeks ago!

Maybe so mate if we can keep them for the season you never know but I would be happy with a mid-table finish!

 

The competitiveness and unpredictability of this league

Shows that we could end up just about anywhere in the Championship this season. As I say, consistency (or the lack of) will be the key to our eventual fate.

 

Halfredsson - In my opinion was the difference between us winning and losing that game. He came on when we were under quite a lot of pressure and he relieved some that pressure, we then grew back into the game and snatched it at the end.

 

and let's give a bit of credit to Butterfield as well

we were being over run through midfield and he and Halfredson stopped that. I thought JCR looked poor today although probably not match fit. Final comment ?Macken over the hill ? Oh aye. form is temporary class is eternal !!!!

Definitely. The entertainment factor alone makes the games a joy to describe under MR. When he eventually leaves us I'm pretty sure it won't be as a result of the dreaded axe.

What do people on here reckon gone in January? I think it's quite possible given his performances this season, If we got a decent amount of money for him I would back Robins to use it wisely considering the players he has brought into the club so far.

Booby and Kozluk won't get a sniff of a first team place if Shotton and Dickinson stop all season simple as that, even if our booby was our player of the season last year!
