Not in any way reverting to negative mode - the effort and the entertainment so far this season has met expectations. But our game has revolved around passing and possession. Now we need to emphasise the MOVE bit of pass and move. We ran rings around Birmingham, but that has not been lost on opposing managers since. Let them pass it in front of us - they won't hurt us there! We need to get some bite, by upping the tempo. Passing and possession is OK, but there needs to be progress. In truth, slightly less possession and more swift attack when we gain it would yield more results. CONFIDENCE revolves around the strikers. Decide who your best two are and play them again and again. The form they're in - eventually they will score, and with that comes confidence. Davies is of course first choice. But we need to decide whether Dagnall or Harewood will partner him. Then we need to persist. Sooner or later, it will come. We made the same mistake with Odejayi, who I remain convinced could have done better had we given him an extended run and allowed him to gain confidence. Simples, Keith! Go for it!
christ i agree with madmark! wonders will never cease The OP was actually making sense until it got the oddjob part.... we need to be less "nice" sometimes and be more incisive
Yes I am afraid to say Mr o kaht.... Oddjob was dreadful and no amount of games would change that. Hth
Can't deny Oddjob's record folks, but of those 73 appearances, how many were as sub? If you think about him beating Carvalho (subsequently Real Madrid's defensive mainstay) to the ball, and the two clinical finishes in that away game at Watford, then he demonstrated he was capable of making a striker - it was the management/coaching staff's job to get him to produce that on a regular basis. I still maintain that whether it's Oddjob, Dagnall or Harewood, playing them regularly is the key to them getting in the groove. For God's sake we persisted with Mike (Barbie Doll) Sheron and Jon (Slowtimer) Macken for long enough!
