Sky Sports understands that Championship side Barnsley are lining up a deal for Martin Cranie.

The 25-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Coventry City at the end of last season.

A number of clubs have shown an interest and he held talks with the likes of Middlesbrough and Leeds United. who he also trained with in pre-season.

But now Cranie has linked up with Keith Hill's side and looks set to be handed a deal by the Tykes.

Indeed it is believed Cranie could be signed in time to be available for Saturday's opening league match with Middlesbrough.

MR C and Whitey, this is meant in the nicest way but **** off on this one.

Uncalled for. Are you still smarting from your stupid comment about the Wednesday game last night?

Should be a good signing that but bet it's only a one year deal.

The it was just the 'LEAGUE CUP' lot
    Oldham vs Sheffield Wednesday 2-0

Not easy going away to the lower division side and winning.

Should fit in with our defence, used to being at a struggling club and part of a leaky defence. Reight DNA.

Missed the Coverntry home game last season, and we didn't errrrm get over the half way line at their place, so never really seen him play.

People sound optimistic though, so get him in instead of McNulty.

The other thread that you clearly took exception to, was me having a bit of fun. And, if you had the brain to fathom it, you'd know it wasn't at your expense.

In the article you posted, Perkins referred to John Stones as 'Stonesy', and so I then listed our entire first team squad, but in nickname fashion. So, it was more a bit of fun at the expense of my beloved David Perkins.

    So, you **** off. ;)
