Lucas alderton scott collins kilburn smith silva rooney patterson clarke rose 1-1 stroke of half time
A few first teamers? I must be going to the wrong games. Can't recall any of the above line up ever been classed as first teamers. Mix of youths and reserves more like.
ben Gordon, on loan from Chelsea Bouba Diop, think he might be on Trial. Morgaro Gomis, played a few games for them last season. Nathan Redmond very highly rated. David Lucas, former red.
I meant the Birmingham line up bapa dioup is not a reserve and Lucas am sure is a experienced gk Redmond is the kid Birmingham rave about our line up is smith 16 must have done ok playing u21 impressive to me that's what this development league should all be about
What happend to the lad we got from Stocksbridge....former Rochdale...he was a winger or a forward I think
Think what deetee is failing to realise is that stones digby Lazarus even I think Jacob mellis is eligible at u 21 level then I am sure the results would improve but like I said its not about that its about development ie 16 yr old at left back and I think alderson at right back think he is 17 hemsie will know
Agree. Some of the teams just kick it. BOOOOOOM. Big striker. Thats not learning. Also a lot of the players are older, we are playing a u19 team and Rooney against a u21 team. Collins also not u19.
And you could say the same about 90% of the teams in the league. The fact is that this 'highly rated' development squad contains players that are no better at this age group of those ten years ago. They also played 'good football' and they also reached the latter stages of the youth cups. I do believe three of those played in the last World Cup. They were playing proper reserve football as well... It's all well and good developing their physical skills in order to improve and develop those with the ultimate aim of progressing through to the first XI but you have to develop the mental side as well. Getting beat week in week out will only install a lack of confidence in their own and their team mates abilities and it will let a losing mindset creep in and those are the hardest to shake. Ad lets face it, barnsly must be one of the few teams that don't stick an older pro player/coach into the XI to lead them on the pitch using their experience. Lets be realistic, you can count on 1 hand the number of players who have and will make it in the top two tiers (or equivilant) of English football. By made it I mean more than a handful of games.
