and improper conduct by fans. That is £15,000 LESS that Niklas Bentdner got fined for displaying a Paddy Power logo on his underpants.
If it was the fans doing the chanting getting that fine i'd agree and it might make them think twice but FFS - how is that amount of cash in this day and age going to change anything!??
I think 80,000 for Nick Bentdner very OTT TBH. They do seem to be very harsh with the fines, was it Russia that got 6 points fine if there fans did anything new.
Much as I agree with your comment, I think the point being made was more about the disparity in the crime and the punishment for two incidents in the same tournament. I know which one is a worse crime, seems the football regulators have a different moral compass.
A couple of thoughts on this. Bendtner has complete control over his actions, the Croatian FA don't over the actions of their fans. Also, Bendtner was displaying advertising so therefore have to take into consideration how much he was paid to do this and ensure he's still not making money out of it. I agree that the rascist chanting is by far the worst offence.
I dont know but fines arent linked to pay are they, not in england. for example, wayne rooney could do the same offence as a physio and they would have the same fine as each other.
This is the Grundian - Uefa have showcased their hard-line stance against the blight on football that is unapproved corporate promotions by suspending Nicklas Bendtner for one match and fining him £80,000 for showing the world his branded "lucky" pants during Denmark's match against Portugal. Random fines handed to national FAs for incidents involving racist fans in recent years: £45,000 (Spain in 2004), £16,500 (Serbia in 2007) and £10,000 (Croatia in 2008). sums it up nicely
