What a dreadful game of football.

The first half was the biggest non-event I've ever witnessed. Howard saved a goal when tackling Rankine through on goal, Hayes headed a corner off the line, we didn't really fashion a chance.

Second half we scored a super goal. Hayes picked out Devaney with a superb cross, and Devaneys incredible burst of pace got him a goal.

Flinders made a great save from Greenacre's header while our defence threatened to self-destruct, and then Tonge almost scored what would have been a terrific goal.

Then Richards brought down for a penalty. Some seem to think it wasn't, looked blatant to me. Richards and Hayes fought over who took it, Richards did, 2-0.

Then everyone switched off in a "can't be bothered" manner, we conceded a stupid goal, and Wroe did his best to set them up for an unthinkable equaliser.

    Notes
    1. Thought the front two worked hard today with NON-EXISTANT service. Its also good that they both wanted the penalty- neither are hiding from the criticism they could have faced had they missed.

    2. Devaney and Shuker are always a threat.

    3. Carbon is potentially the best defender in this division when he's fit. He just never is.

    4. Best referee we've had in a long time. Let it flow, not a single card.

Man of the Match: Bobby Hassell.

Cant argue about most esp. the ref..let the game flow without needless cards

Hayes & Richards were poor though.

    Thats the argument I have..

Whenever we win a game, one of them either has the goal or the assist. But its never enough.

If Hayes had been awarded the goal against Rotherham like he should have been, he'd have scored in our last 3 home games before today. (Darlington, Rotherham, Bradford)

The only chances we fashioned in the first half- Hayes passing to Shuker in behind, Hayes passing to Devaney in behind.

People just ignore it because he's **** in the air.

    I'm tall, I'm **** in the air, doesn't mean I'm a **** player. (IMHO)

No pace, cant beat a man, cant head, poor work ethic

    need I go on.

A decent STRIKER at Hayes side may improve matters. Not, I hasten to add, Nardiello.

    Poor work ethic?

I swear, he had one lazy game and people judged him on it.

He chased things down constantly tonight. I can't believe that.

Ugh and double ugh. Awful. Wanted to go home at half time it was that bad.

Great goal and set up - fast, incisive and well finished.

Looked a cast iron penalty, take your pick from two defenders as to who was the guilty party. Excellent spot kick from Richards.

By now the defence was 'makeshift', but even though there were one or two hairy moments, thought they played well and would agree with Hassel as MOM.

Referee, to be fair he did allow play to flow and resisted the temptation to throw cards around like confetti, but let's be honest he couldn't have made the game that much worse anyway. Perhaps he took pity on us!

Crap performance, 3 points, could be a good sign eh?

Oh and what was with the subs - Reid on the bench, yet doesn't come on when Carbon retires hurt. But no striker if needed? Certainly puzzled me.

Forgot to mention the Reid thing..

Whats the point in having him on the bench if hes not fit enough to participate?

Shuker and Devaney are always a threat.

Yet the front two receive no service? How's that work?

Mind you, I didn't go, so who am I to gainsay?

    They're a threat..

Doesn't mean that they actually delivered upon that threat does it?

The goal came through Hayes providing the cross for Devaney. Devaneys a threat, but doesn't mean Hayes has had any service.

You really must watch a diffferent game

He has put little effort in to the last 2 games. Defences have not really been troubled ny him.

If you want to see what effort actually is then watch chris shuker.

If you start judging effort based on Chris Shuker..

Then every other player I've seen this season is lazy.

Is that how we're doing it now?

Shuker got Man of the match today. He did sweet f*ck all. Didn't beat a man all game. But its okay for him to not beat a man, if Hayes does it, he's public enemy.

He's a threat but he delivered absolutely nothing today.

We're unbeaten in 9 league games and we're still praising nobody. What the hell is going on? :) lol.

    By comparison...

Switzerland are a threat, even though they don't have an army or nuclear weapons. But they have nice uniforms.

    Not MOM

just ran Hassell close along with Devaney.

If shukes was just a bit better at crossing then he would be playing in at least the championship and mey yet this season.

FFS lighten up about Hayes. Yes hes scored a few but he is not even in the top twenty in the division and is only a couple of goals better than midfielder shuker.

Hes underperfomed since signing. We simply do not have a serious strike threat that will trouble better defences.

    You didn't go.

Wished I hadn't either. Not only was it a dull and inspiring 90 minutes of (non) football (surely by now we're in the Guiness Book of Records for head tennis?), but got back to mi car to find window smashed and BRAND NEW CD/radio nicked. Second time in 3 months. Will need a second mortgage for mi premium next year.

Back to the (non) football - we were very disjointed tonight but the best move of the match saw Shuker, Hayes and Devaney combine well for the goal. Not quite "always a threat", but who's counting?

And things for taking stones out of horses' hooves

You've got to be wary of anyone wielding one of them.

Sorry to hear that. You want to start getting stuff like mine. All of it is old and crap, so no one has any desire to nick any of it.
