TORRES IN CONTENTION FOR FA CUP TIE Steve Hunter 10 February 2008 Rafael Benitez has revealed that star striker Fernando Torres could be back in action for the FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Barnsley next Saturday. The Spanish star picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty in a friendly against France last Wednesday. However, the player is making good progress and Benitez is confident he will be back available for selection ahead of the Champions League clash with Inter Milan. "Maybe Fernando will be available for the weekend against Barnsley," said Benitez. "We will have to see. "We have time now and the physios are working really hard with him. He is very optimistic so I think he could be available for the weekend."
It'd be strange to risk him against Barnsley Such an injury benefits from rest, can't see them risking him getting hurt for the Inter clash myself. He could be on the bench incase they need a goal.
Let him have complete rest for the next week I'm only thinking of what's best for Fernando Torres, honest(!)
Just imagine the stick That Benitez'd get if he started him against Barnsley and he limped off with a recurrence of his injury and then missed the Inter game.
Especially If they lose both games!! This wine is making me post even more gibberish than I usually do!! (pint) (doh)
Ah, good point Would be a bad move to beat HIM up. I would die a slow and painful death by starvation if I got barred from there.
