Don't think you can get many program's or films in UHD think its a bit like 3D only one channel with limited content
I bought a 4k lg from argos, I took it back, there was no shows in 4k, I thought everything was 4k, lol
Had a 3D TV for a year and seen about two hours of 3D in that time. I still think the bigger the TV the weaker the resolution whatever the quality.
Thats what I was noseying at over the weekend. It was the upscaling of normal pictures to near 4hd that got my interest, as it will be a while before theres loads of true 4hd content broadcast. I do wonder though if the upscaling is as good as they claim. if it is, then it seems like it's a massive step up in picture quality, like HD versus normal TV was.
They're pointless mate. They look fantastic in the shop, but nothing is broadcast in UHD, there are no UHD channels, no UHD players, no UHD disks. You'll get some blu-ray players that claim to upscale to UHD but that's like the digital zoom on a camera as opposed to optical zoom. It's like buying a car that runs on plutonium but no one sells plutonium. As Marty McFly found to his cost. I believe the only thing you can watch at the minute is House of Cards on Netflix, if you've got the broadband capacity, which is doubtful. When they start producing the content then it may be something worth thinking about and by that time the price will have come down for the tellies. At the moment you'll get far more bang for your buck if you just set your money on fire.
There aren't even any 1080p channels never mind 4K - the technology is also totally reliant on content being delivered via the internet on a fast enough connection as I'm not even sure a blu-ray disc can cope with the extra bandwidth required, even if it can then you'd probably need a new player. Services like Netflix might start offering some films in 4K in the next few years though. At this moment in time I'd be more inclined to go for a latest generation 1080p TV as the panels they use are far more developed than the affordable 4K ones which might even do a worse job of displaying the standard 720p signals.
