Applying for University (i think) with it being my last year at College, would just like advice from people who are/have been to Uni, most probably be staying local Leeds Metropolitan, Sheffield Hallam or Huddersfield. My point being is it worth it? Is it enjoyable and will it get me the dream job of mine- be a sports coach to the younger generation of some sort? Thank in advance. Scott.
University's worth it just for the people you'll meet and the new things you'll experience. Leeds in particular is a great city in which to be a student; used to go over there all the time when I was at York. I'd imagine that this effect would be slightly less if you live at home, but I can't really comment. The best thing to do to start with is to check out the qualifications required for your jobs and check out the degrees available to see if any of them will add something to your CV.
Correct, everything on my Ucas is finished (inc. personal statement), grades on etc. Just need to send the payment off. I really wouldn't mind going but is it as daunting as i'm feeling about it at the minute?
Do it But defo move to halls you will miss out on all the good partys if not, If you go to leeds met the main halls is opal and there is some right fanny knocking about. Im at leeds uni at the moment if you want to know anything more PM me
I had no desire to go to University when I was 18 ( sort of did it as a last resort when I lost my job ), but I had a great time and it certainly opened up more doors for me, as well as meeting people from all walks of life (I was atNottingham). That said, I did it at the time when I got a full grant and consequently didn't leave Uni with massive debts, and alsoin my dayjust having a degreefelt quite special - it's not the case any more. Therefore I would think very carefully about whether your course will just leaveyou withdebt or whether it will genuinely advance your chances in your future career!</p>
I went to Newcastle In 1974, I had a great time, git a degree in Chemistry and then a decent job. Although I guess its a little different today with loans and all that, I was lucky enough to get a full grant.
Speaking on the subject. Is anyone currently at one of either Leicester, Coventry, Aston, Preston or Hull?
No, but I've got friends at Aston and another who graduated from Hull last year if you'd like me to find out the answers to any questions.
Not a particular question as such mate... Just wondered what anyone thought of the university as a whole.
Finished all my ucas stuff off going to send it tomorrow. Applied at Leeds Met, Liverpool John Moore, Nottingham Trent, Coventry and Teeside to do Sports Psychology
Well I always heard excellent things about Hull, and Aston's brilliant because it's really close to the city centre and Birmingham's a great place to hang out. Can't speak for the others, although as my mum always used to say, you'll enjoy it wherever you go.
Whatever choice you make, try and move out and get in halls. It's a good crack at any uni I'd assume.
Im at sheffield hallam university, first year still living in barnsley. Catch the train every mornin which int no fuss really. Really good university an that, an night life!! Get ya'self there
only worth it if you are doing a vocational course imho having been at university for 7 years i can say its an expensive old business.
