we are down. Davey is generally clueless. Beaten by a far better tem today but our 'managers' naievity shone through. </p>

    personally

what I think we might have here is manager who is so full of himself that he wont admit hes wrong (either that or not seeing the blindingly obvious) and putting his own pig headed pride before the general good of the team.Either that or he sees it as a perverted act of tactical genius nullifying our main strike threat from midfield.Mind you his current tactics of our just humping the ball forward at every opportunity(cant believe Colgan is thick enough to do it as often -or as badly - as he does withouit some kind of direction from above, aint a confidence booster either .Lost count of the number of times we just gave the ball back to Sunderland yesterday .

    Judging by...

...the way outfield players such as Howard were screaming for him to throw the ball out to them quickly, I don't think Colgan is under orders to hoof it forwards. Unless the rest of the team are not in on the plot!

Clogan doesn't normally just "hoof it forward" - but I agree that he hardly threw it at all yesterday.

It makes me think it was a deliberate "ploy".

If it was a deliberate ploy why were outfield players wanting him to release it to them quick and short? A better explanation of why he hoofed it long is that by the time he decides what to do with it, it's his only option.
