Stan missing two open goals, Howard with a clear chance and a probable penalty late on. Not the prettiest of performances but considering the conditions it was a decent display. The major point, why oh why was JCR dropped? Absolutely superb tonight, going forward and defensively.
nice to know you still know 2 things about football.. nothing and bugger all Hassell is a damm good player
"why oh why"? Do you write letters to the Daily Mail? Regardless of performance, every point dropped at home until we have another 9, is very worrying.
RE: How did Hassell play can't believe he still gets a game? nt I thought he did OK first half, better than I expected, held his position well and played it simple. 2nd half though he seemed well off the pace and I felt QPR identified he could be got at. Maybe Davey could have taken him off midway through the 2nd half. At the end of the day, he's no midfield player, but he gives his all. Lets hope Anderson is fit sooner rather than later
RE: How did Hassell play can't believe he still gets a game? nt Hassell was probably our best player first half
The dropping of points is a concern but I'm convinced from what I've seen this year that we've got enough to get out of trouble. At home at least we look dangerous enough to pick up another 9 points. Hassell was decent in the first half today but looked out of his depth in the second half. Not really fair on the lad (i know he's played there before) but it's clearly not his position. We lacked quality in the middle of midfield with Howard on an off day. I've seen enough of Stan this year as well. I'm never one to knock a tryer...which he clearly is but he's a yard off the pace. Surprised Kayode didn't get a start today, I'm sure he will on Saturday.
In between grunts from Merson on Sky, it sounded like we could and possibly should have won it, but there were a few moments where we could have been badly punished for missed chances. Ah well Nardiello is back on Saturday and he's due a goal. BTW Merson was quite clear that he didn't think it was a penalty, but said both players in the tackle looked back at the ref? What did it look like to you?
Stan, Nardiello, Kayode, Macken......all due a goal. Worrying times at the Well. Considering we have to go out and win these home games we are seriously lacking cutting edge. Not sure about the pen. Everyone around me (and in the Ponty) seemed to think it was clear cut but I'd have to see it again. Trying to make any sense of Merson's ramblings and pauses must have been fun.
I thought it was a dead cert about halfway back in the Ponty. It was a desperate challenge as Macken pulled the trigger, and he didn't look like he got the ball
I thought their player got the ball I sit in the Ponty too for what that's worth. Could be wrong like, it's happened many times before.
that's why I asked, Merson said no penalty, then he mentioned the players looking back at the ref, so I would take it from the players reaction, that there must have been a chance. Did the players around it appeal?
Plenty of appeals. Macken was lining up a shot with his wrong foot so there's a chance that he delayed slightly and the defender took the ball. I wasn't convinced and I had a side on view from the West Stand.
RE: I thought their player got the ball well, my eyesight isn't up to much so I wouldn't be shocked to be wrong either, just the way I saw it.
I'm going to write a letter to the referee. See if I can get him to change his mind. Dear Ref, Why oh why did you not give us a penalty etc.
Chortle. Perhaps chuck in an extra 'why oh' for effect. That should ensure the match is replayed. I'm tellin thee though, JCR was fecking brilliant tonight. Even his crossing was good and he usually can't cross for toffee.
got to say from gangway 2 in the ponty it looked a stonwall pen got all of macks and none if any of the ball
