Earl starts at LWB and McCart goes in at LCB, that’s if Pines is ready to start.

The last few games against Derby Cadden has been ripped a new arsehole by Mendez-Laing (I include the 4-1 hammering we gave them last season too…)

IMO Cadden has lost a yard of pace this season and has been exposed a tad down the left-hand side. Anyone else agree?

Absolutely not. Earl is a left sided centre back who can fill in at LWB only if needed. He’s a centre back.

No reason to move Earl when hes done so incredibly well for us there. Cadden has been our most attacking threat consistently from the back the last 18 months

Earl’s natural position is wing-back, that’s exactly why Collins brought him in; he states this in his interview when he first signed.

We need to be absolutely spot on defensively at the weekend, if it means sacrificing Cadden’s attacking threat then so be it.

Earl told the Chronicle: “I am not sure many people will want to see me play left wing-back any more.
“I have put on a lot of weight and muscle since I last played there."
“It would need to be a big emergency but I will put a shift in anywhere.
“Left centre half is probably my best position.”

The two first words of the title of the thread sums it up. I would not change much, if I were Collins, other than going back to McAtee & Cole up front. Marsh & Cosgrove on the bench. Needs our proven players out for this. Pines would be great to put on in the last 20-30 mins for a presence in both boxes.

Agree about Mendez-Laing he definitely gave Cadden a tough 1st half last season but hopefully he’s learnt from last season.

We've just got the centre backs sorted so let's move one to LWB....why not eh?

I think it's a decent shout. Don't agree with all your reasoning but we'd be much better defensively. Would we be as good as an attacking force? Depends if you think Cadden creates lots of chances or just hits the first man with 95% of his crosses. Hint: it's the second option.

We are at home & need to catch them. We need to take the game to them & get balls into the box for the top scorer in the division. Hang on, we could be more defensively sound, (which is unproven). There may be life on Mars. Glad fans don't pick the team.

Cadden definitely plays he’s our best left wing back plus although Mendez-Laing is a good player at this level he’s not Ronaldo and i wouldn’t be losing any sleep over him.

Been saying this about Cadden for ages and always get differing opinions on him. I think his crosses are largely poor.

I think Cadden’s crossing is superb. If he puts them in head height then it’s unlikely Cole or McAtee are winning them but with the pace & whip on them it often creates chaos & wins us corners

Cadden offers us more going forward - struggling to keep clean sheets so cutting out an attacking option doesn't make sense to me

Not only that they have Blackett Taylor who ripped us down the right hand side for Charlton.
