I do worry about next season though if he takes us down

Yes, he'll get sacked. But then what? We'll have a load of players who want out, have to rebuild, and we don't know who our manager will be. Its not easy to attract decent managers to league one. Part of my thinks it might even be an idea to keep Davey if we got relegated to try and keep some stability. I'm clearly losing it.

I'm dreading saturday as I can't make it. Its gonna be the most painful 2 hours on the internet I've ever had.

    Wrong tense

    You have clearly LOST it.

If Davey takes us down, he should not be allowed near Oakwell again. No excuses, that squad is good enough to hold its own in the Championship - unless a manager undermines it with crap tactics and unfathomable selections.

There are good managers out there. Someone anyone with an ounce of enthusiasm would get my vote.

I think Davey should go regardless. He's had enough chances and we have gone backwards not forwards. I supported the idea of allowing stability, and wanted Davey to have a chance, but enough is enough. He should be sacked even if we stay up on the basis that if he stays, the fans won't.

Im sorry, but I dont agree

if we go down it will be because the squad isnt good enough, where do people get this misconception that we have a team good enough for mid table, Im baffled. Its ******, the team isnt good enough or we wouldnt be conceding goals in the last 5 minutes of games and we'd be taking chances.

Lets get real, its not entirely Daveys fault, he takes some of the blame yes, but he's not the one missing penalties, handballing it in injury time and not scoring from easy chances.

RE: Im sorry, but I dont agree

He is the one playing wingers in central midfield, bringing on inappropriate subs to defend leads when for 80 mins we'd been doing fine with a more attacking formation, and he in my opinion is the person responsible for draining every ounce of confidence & enthusiasm in the players & supportes alike.

I agree the players have to take some responsibility, but I think that the squad we have, playing with confidence instead of trepidation would be fine. Playing to our strengths instead of trying to adapt to the other teams strengths. It's not a fantastic squad by any means, but it has enough to stay in this league with ease. With a more positive manager we'd have won alot more games with this squad. (we may also have lost a few more, but we'd have been better off for points in my opinion).

Simon davey has signed at least 23 players

    Plus loanees.</p>

It looks like we have to start all over again every season...

    I disagreed with the sub

but he put Mifsud on and if you read what Hassell said, was screaming at the players to push forward. The penalty misses and last gasp goals are totally out of his hands, and if you add up those points, we would be mid table. He signed them, so he's culpable. But if we stay up, we need a complete clear out of much of the squad. Anyone who thinks just changing the manager and keeping the same players will see us more competitive next year is just bonkers.

Simon Davey has made more signings than anyone i remember

He's made inbound transfers 45 times since taking over, thats an average of one player every 20 days since he took over.

The barnsley squad is his and the fact that as you say we have to keep rebuilding every year and making several last throw of the dice loanees towards the end of every season shows that Davey is simply not good enough.

How can you push up when you have defensive players on the pitch?

And wasn't hassell on the opposite side of the pitch to the dugout for the last ten minutes?

I agree that the squad isn't good enough

But I disagree about whether or not that is Simon Davey's fault. I think it is for he signed the players.

The heart of this squad has shown that it can raise it's game to battle and fight against teams like Chelsea and Liverpool. Those 2 games didn't really require a manager to motivate them. It's games like Cardiff at wembley and practically every game since that has defined Simon Davey's ability to motivate a team.

He simply hasn't got it in him, to turn us into a team of fighters, to get the players to raise the game when backs are to the wall and hang on until the death. The players don't believe in their own ability and that's down to one man.

When he's gone, regardless of what happens to us. He will not be sought by a premiership team for his achievements with us, he'll be very, very lucky to get another chance at this level.

RE: I agree that the squad isn't good enough

of course its his fault, he stands and falls by his signings and results. But what annoys me is that some people seem to think its just his fault and that under a new manager the same squad would be pissing up the league. Like he's cursed or somet. The Davey voodoo.

    New manager same squad

would mean another relegation battle. Very rare that you install a new manager and he keeps the same squad though. He will always try to sell some players and get some of his own in.

    Forward line

imho that's where a new manager would start.

I just dont subscribe to this 'Davey tells them to sit back and defend a lead' ******. The players coughed for the goal, like they did in the previous games at Cov and Watford. No Davey mind game there, just lack of ability and bottle. In the players that we all think are just under performing under a poor manager - come on...... we're going down cos we';re ****

Davey took an attacking player off and replaced him with a defensive player

That's not a substitution that says attack the game and try to kill wolves off, it is a substittution that says try to defend the 1-0 lead for the next ten or 15 minutes
