    Where has the term 'unveiling' come from when a new player or manager appears. I've heard of statues and works of art being unveiled but why is it used for footballers - it's not as if the person in question is covered in a shroud or veil which is duly ripped off when he appears.

    Its the shroud of secrecy leading up the announcement, maybe.
