IT WOULD TAKE QUITE A BIT OF MONEY TO GET HIM AWAY FROM US - ANDY <img src ="http://www.barnsleyfc.premiumtv.co.uk/javaImages/90/8e/0,,10309~2723472,00.jpg"> REDS boss Andy Ritchie has moved to quell speculation linking young goalkeeper Scott Flinders with a move away from Oakwell. The Sunday papers had claimed the young shot stopper was a target for a number of Premiership sides, including Bolton Wanderers, but Andy insists Scott's future in with Barnsley. Andy said: "I do not know anything about it at all and we have definitely not had any enquiries. As far as I am concerned Scott is going to be here for quite some time to come and it would take quite a bit of money to get him away from us. "Scott has a very bright future in the game. He will have to be patient and has some learning to do but he is picking things up all the time. He is learning a lot when he is away with England and is working every week with John Lukic. "We are very pleased with him and I am sure that he will be first choice for Barnsley in the future".
translation If anybody wants scott then make an offer please, we are willing to listen to serious cash bids
which is fair enough. if any team came in and offered 350 - 500 thousand for any of our players, id probably snatch their hands off.
I know business is business. I really hope he gets a chance to prove that he is worth keeping no matter how much money is offered for him.
and when hes playing prem football you can say he came from barnsley him, best keeper around and we trained him, so stuff that Man utd with your rubbish academy (excluding danny)
Personally I think he'll be here for a while yet Laura He's recently signed a new contract, which means any club wanting him would have to pay an awful lot to get him. However, as good as we think he is he hasn't proven himself yet. At the moment he's certainly not experienced enough to get a starting place in a Premiership side. There's not much point in such a club spending a lot of money on an untried and untested pleyer, plus paying his wages and paying for his training, only for him to keep goal in a junior side. In my opinion, what is more likely to happen is that bigger clubs will monitor his progress at Barnsley and if he continues to improve we may see other clubs making bids for him in a year or two. Let's hope he's cemented his place in the starting 11 by then and Barnsley have won promotion. Should that be the case he may not want to leave.
