Sometimes, as this morning in Windy's thread re Angela Roddick, I post as a guest rather than Steve S because I know that what I say may not be universally popular, but people do not always respond as they would to another poster with contentious opinions because of my condition etc. In other words I am not hiding behind Guest, but am prepared to take the flack that I might not otherwise get. For example, Acky calling me an ignorant idiot. Ignorant of the true facts with regard to his job maybe, but ignorant of his contempt for anyone or anything who he regards as an evil captalist I am certainly not, as he has expressed his opinions often enough in the past. I do apologise for getting the facts wrong about your job, but times often your employment within the D of E has been referred without a fuller explanation. That you are about to be made redundant, well I feel sorry about that too, having been in the same position myself in 1995. But then I got off my arse, took a risk and started my own business, and though it may not be everybody's cup of tea (I know IFA's are down there with estate agents, double glazing salesmen etc)I have made a success of it and have worked bloody hard under extremely difficult circumstances to give me and my family a reasonable standard of living and I make no apologies for that. The same option is open to you now Acky. Good luck with what you are to do next year.
Steve for demonstration purposes would you mind deleting everything and replacing it with "I love you and Isle of Wight Tyke is best" I think my point is far more important then a financial advisers. You get half an hour to edit or something. Obviously I'm serious.
them three were all me the plan was to edit it to say I love you and Isle of Wight Tyke is best but then i realised that guests cant edit posts.
RE: them three were all me I think you've made the point that I'm best very well. Which is important and eliminates the need for Gaz and TFP to bother turning up.
Good on you for being honest in admitting it was you. Your illness would in no way affect my reaction to your post, Id have said the same had you posted it under your real name, albeit without the 'anonymous' comments. Ive never called anyone an "evil capitalist" (various world leaders aside). Do I think Capitalism itself is 'evil'? Yes. You can preclude human action to a large extent when the system itself is the major driving force for the actions of individuals and large multi-nationals. Sadly you chose to ignore completely the part of my post that spoke about what would happen to the world if more major people and businesses did as she had done and give their money away - which in essence is praisworthy of what she had done, as it was intended to be. I didnt think that anyone stating their job on this board had also to give a full description of their terms of employment and wage structure just in case someone wishes to make uninformed comments at a later date.... My Mums parents were farmers, my Dads Dad was a miner in Barnsley - neither well off by any stretch of the imagination. My Dad's Dad died of coal dust on the lungs and my Mums dad died of cancer. My own Dad is a musician and in terms of the money he earned and the life he gave me, my brother and my mother he is a success and a flipping hard working man, even at 65. However, without wanting to go into details I know from personal experience and observation that money does not make you happy. It is not a means to an end. Im not about to do what I want to do for money, im doing it because I want to make a difference. Im fully aware on my own its not going to make a vast difference to the world, but that's no reason in my book to absolve myself from the responsibility of trying.......... No hard feelings and all the best to you.
RE: MONEY DOES,NT MAKE YOU HAPPY But it makes misery a **** sight more bareable. If you dont want your money, you be a tramp and I,ll spend it on wine, women, and song
