Just read an article saying Uwe Rosler is being heavily linked with the Barnsley job....says he's still got strong links with Man City..... Does 2 and 2 make 5 or could there be some legs in it ...what with the CEO been ex City and his legend comments earlier this week ...what you reckon...
Former Leeds and Brentford and boss Uwe Rosler in the frame to be the next manager at Barnsley following sacking of Markus Schopp Uwe Rosler, 52, has vast experience from managing clubs across Europe Barnsley sacked Markus Schopp after a run of seven successive defeats Championship strugglers want a charismatic figure to lift the mood at Oakwell Uwe Rosler has emerged as a contender for the vacant manager’s post at Championship Barnsley. The 52-year old coached at Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf last season and is keen on a return to England where he has had previous success with the likes of Brentford and Fleetwood Town. came up on my news feed....Daily fail
Just had a look at Rosler’s managerial stats and I’ve got to admit, they are a lot better than I thought. Here are his stats: Games: 595 Won: 266 Drawn: 170 Lost: 158 Win %: 44.8 That to me is really impressive. Fair enough his Leeds spell was a disaster but everywhere else he’s been he’s either helped grow a club with a system in place (eg Brentford ) or got the club safe and established in their respective league. This is from a snippet about him: “ Rösler is renowned for his teams playing a high, pressing style of football, and is also a fan of squad rotation among players, with 4–3–3 or 3–5–2 his favoured formations. Rösler compared his style and brand of football similar to the philosophies of German compatriot Jürgen Klopp,[60] with Rösler describing the style of football as 'heavy metal' attacking football, with powerful quick football with quick transitions from attack to defence. “ Would be happy if he was appointed.
At Dusseldorf he was ok when winning but seemed to run out of ideas when up against a stubborn opposition or after going behind....lack of a plan B was why a lot of the fans lost faith well before getting the push.
I suggested him days ago, maybe the journo’s read it? http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/ok-let’s-have-it-serious-alternatives-to-schopp.309213/
Yeah think you could say a lot of coaches only really have plan a only but totally appreciate your comment.
Can you recall when that was roughly ? Genuine question by the way just can’t recall us going for him before.
Really liked him as a player, even more so when he missed sitters at Maine Road and Oakwell. Now being serious, by all accounts he turned us down previously. He played the game at a high level and clearly knows about shape and work rate. I don't see however how this guy would be any better than Roy Keane He's got a great record in leagues managing top teams. We need innovation, not immediate but someone who can develop our style from last year I've previously mentioned we needed a continuity candidate,.who made incremental changes. Built a base after securing enough points towards safety and looked towards next season. At the minute that man could be Laumann.
