Conceded 4 on Saturday to a good side and we had ten men for most of the second half. Got the formation and tactics wrong from the off and would have been soundly beaten regardless of the sending off. Clean sheet Tuesday after reverting to the correct formation. Okay it was against completely different and much weaker opposition - but opposition who would be desperate to win in a competition which realistically the players and flicker won't see as important as the league so probably lacking motivation and having had a massive confidence knock. Didn't score - but had 29 shots. Suggests we were a good finisher short of being quite decent. I think we all knew that before the Wigan game. It's also common knowledge that such a player is being sought. Blackpool will be tough Saturday, especially if no forward is brought in. But even if we lose I won't write off the season, similarly a win won't mean we're promotion material. After half a dozen or more league games it might be fair to start assessing the prospects but before that its relatively pointless. Even two wins and a draw and two more defeats in that time would give 7 points and likely a lower mid table position. That doesn't exactly seem impossible. If we have no points at all at that point then maybe what has been said was justified. I doubt that will be the case though.
