Barnsley boss Simon Davey has to find a replacement left back. Dominik Werling is suspended and injured Rob Kozluk has been ruled out of the reckoning.

Former Rotterdam player van Homoet has impressed Davey with a string of appearances for the reserves after recovering from a broken hand. He is usually a right back and could be asked to switch flanks.

It is more likely he will play on the right taking Stephen Foster's place. Foster could move to centre back alongside Dennis Souza with his usual partner Lewin Nyatanga moving to left back.

Barnsley bowed out of the FA Youth Cup last night, losing in the third round at Swindon 2-1.

Jamil Adam scored for the young Reds who were beaten by goals from Sam morris and Ben Joyce.

QPR have confirmed that defender John Curtis has been allowed to leave the club. The former Barnsley and Manchester United right-back who has failed to impress since he was brought to the club by former manager John Gregory and made only f <div id="ds-mpu"></div>ive appearances for Rangers.

SHEFFIELD United centre-half Gary Cahill could be set for showdown talks with Aston Villa as he struggles to confirm his long-term future at Bramall Lane.

Cahill completes his three month loan spell with Bryan Robson's side following this weekend's South Yorkshire derby with Barnsley but talks are continuing between the two clubs aimed at allowing him to return during the January transfer window.
