The games he was great in I'd put him in the top 20 players I've ever seen play for us. In the ones he was poor he was like a poor man's Julian Broddle.
Pompey away sticks out for me. He was like Kevin Donovan on ketamine. Against Leeds at home, like Marcelle on speed.
He was so bad in his first few games that me and my mate nicknamed him crazy legs and we tried to sponsor his socks in an 'ironic' sort of way. Of course, the club never answered the e-mail, so we never did sponsor him in the end.
Unorthadox but always a danger man on the attack. He scored 10 goals in 22 games. If any of our players could match that this season I would be happy. Original poster is probably one who didn't rate Butts or slags Hourihane... Can't understand how our most creative of players get slated. Perhaps you enjoy a good nil draw???
it often amazes me, how people can think so massively differently about a player. i thought he was sensational for us
But the key point is he was bad to start with but the consistently excellent for about 3 months until we sold him. If he was generally inconsistent, e.g. 1 good game, 2 bad etc like a McCourt or Anderson then fair enough but Vaz Te was clearly quality, once he got fit & focused he was brilliant regularly
No matter how good the positives the o/p only highlights the negatives, must be a reflection of personality imo
