Just had a text from a Cardiff fan that there are rumours on their boards saying Vaz Te is signing for them £650.000
They don't seem to be very strong rumours, looking at the cynicism they and their author have been met with.
If they have offered £650,000 for him then he will be on the next train to Cardiff (via Sheffield & Birmingham). There's no way we'll turn down that sort of money when he'll be on his bike for free in 4 months time.
can't blame vaz te neither, he's injury prone so he'll be looking quite rightly for best deal for himself. it would be brilliant buisness by bfc if they could get that sort of money for him. i can see it happening as well because clubs that are interested in him will not want an end of season contract war with a load of other clubs jumping on bandwagon. if clubs offer barnsley a decent deal this time and offer vaz te his long term contract they should grab it with both hands.and the fee should be made available to hill for end of season or immediate loan deals.imo
I dont believe for one minute that Cardiff have offered £650K for him - but if they have we should seriously consider it and then go back to them and say £850K and he is yours - £650K is right on the edge of what I think we shold consider - 500K definitely reject , 750K definitely accept 650K in that grey area - I'd try and get a bit more But having said all that I dont believe the rumour so not sure why I bothered with the above
I'd say no, keep him here for the rest of the season and let him go for free. Relegation is worth more than £650k imho.
650k is not good business. His value to us in the second half of the season is worth more. We've lost our two most effective midfielders and Craig Davies has gone off the boil. I have a lot of time for Andy Gray but I'd never back him to score every week. How much are goals worth in pounds and pence?
We can safely say, that we aren't going up or down, so surely us getting money for him now is far better business that holding onto him for inevitably, what will be a more respectable league position. Doesn't really matter if we finish 8th or 18th, we're still gunna be in this division come May.
There's no doubt in mind considering our financial situation that if a decent offer comes in then he will be off
Agreed, any less than £1m we should reject. We aren't yet safe from relegation and losing our top scorer at this stage of the season could be detrimental. We signed him for nothing so should he leave for nothing at the end of the season we've not lost anything. Is there prize money associated with league placing in the Championship?
I think the Championship placings are only worth 10-20K so no real financial incentive. The bringing in or sale of players doesnt seem to be affecting our attraction of more supporters through the door. However i think this will be determined by Vaz Te himself. You cant blame him for having a bigger pay day and greater opportunity. I think we should hold for more than £1M. The critical thing is how much would it cost for us to get a replacement, even one lesser standard. Several 'average' players seem to have changed hands for more than a Mill recently and although i have faith the management can bring in and get the best out of lower league / reserve players every team needs some creativity.
