Use this thread to go nuts, wild & absolutely insane. Go on you know you want to do it. Let the anger flow & you'll be better for it, & 3....2...1....lift off.
Have backed DC up to now and it’s clear we have a dreadful squad but this is a team in 18th place at home, has to go tbh
My spleen is unvented, I think if it was, it might be detrimental to my health if not actually fatal.
Players to a man should be ashamed and apologise publicly for how disgracefully little effort they've put in at Oakwell in 2024. Clarke and the coaches should be ashamed and apologise likewise for failing to teach players the basics. Julie-Ann and the board should apologise for fking up yet again with recruitment and conning the supporters with the Hourihane signing.
Ok - so it's easy to get drawn into this moment, but this isn't about the moment. This has been coming and more is coming after it. 2020/2021 - We finished fifth in the championship and failed in the playoffs. At that point we had a high press team that had the foundations to build a credible push to the Premier League. We didn't though. We gutted the team and sold most of it to Luton Town and they went to the Premier League instead. Manager: Valerien Ismael 2021/2022 - We finished rock bottom. In the most unforgivable reverse of fortunes *ever* we went from playoff hopefuls to the worst in the entire division and got relegated. It was absolutely unforgivable. I will never, ever forget this season. Manager at the end of the season: Martin Devaney 2022/2023 - We bounced back to playoffs, albeit in the tier below. We had a good/decent side that should have been promoted but we all know what happened in the playoff final. Despite this, it was a side that was then about to be gutted again, instead of being built on. Manager: Michael Duff. 2023/2024 - We were again worse. We scraped into the playoffs but didn't make the final. The talent in the side was less than the previous year and we knew it. Despite this, we knew the side wasn't going to be improved and anything half decent would be lost again. Manager at the end of the season: Martin Devaney 2024/2025 - We started the season with another new manager. Another squad of less talented players. Another season of results worst than the season before and yes the slide continues. Do not forget that we are 18 / 20 short of safety still. In my opinion - this club isn't just sliding - which suggests some kind of linear decay, it's actually spiralling downward and to begin with the spiral is wide and gentle. As time goes by the spiral gets tighter, it gets faster and eventually a hard drop becomes inevitable. That's what I'm waiting for to be honest. 'Playing it safe' every year by not investing in the first time in a meaningful way, and letting decent players leave at the end of contracts, or selling them for a pittance - these things are short term gains and long term losses. Here we are reaping what has been sown. Eventually you then need to find a substantial amount of money to get decent talent back into the club in multiple positions all at the same time. We have been steadily degrading our fortunes. Now we find ourselves beaten 4-0 at home to Leyton Orient who at the beginning of the day were positioned just above the relegation zone. We have a manager who has declared that the players aren't good enough and that a clear-out is needed. The current roster is playing exactly like that and responding to him like "Well f*ck you pal". We all know that he is talking tough but doesn't have the resources to go out into the market and start bringing in players for January. Only 2 wins at home this year out of 10 games. We have no strikers, our midfield was abject at keeping the ball today, and our defence is a shambles off basic corners and crosses that put them in a flat spin. Strategically the club has drifted badly and is circling the toilet flush, tactically it has no grit, no fight and no sense of purpose. The board are awful. The manager is abject. The players aren't good enough. Unless there is a significant - and I mean almost complete revolution - at Oakwell, I have us marked for fourth tier football within two or three years.
Ow c'mon, it's exactly like the moment. That's why I called it the vent your spleen thread. I get your point but we're here & in the now. Go for it, vent that spleen
That was the most shambolic 'performance' from a Reds team I have ever seen, and like most of us I have seen plenty of bad ones. It was utterly senseless football. The conditions were awful, and the players did absolutely nothing to adapt to them. That's all down to a lack of leadership. Mainly on the field, but clearly with many problems off it too. Only Barry Cotter (who I usually have very little positive to say about) came out of it with anything resembling any credit.
Clarke is currently rhe 3rd worse manager/coach we’ve had since I started watching Barnsley in about 1982. The worse being Asbaghi and Schopp. He has no business managing us, he couldn’t run a bath and will never coach at a higher level. The players have clearly had enough of him throwing them under the bus every time we lose. If he is still our coach at the end of this season we’ll be close to relegation. And even if we got relegated there’d probably be people on here defending him. Insane.
I, and many on here, have never had the pleasure of seeing 4th Division football at Oakwell. First time for everything I suppose.
First half I blamed the wind even though its the same for both teams.Second half I expected a massive reaction and although the wind was still bad what I saw was a totally unacceptable performance from the players and manager. Not one bit of a reaction hurt me as a supporter. The very least as a fan we should expect 100% effort. Very disappointed tonight.
