Yorkshire Post online http://www.yorkshiretoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=117&ArticleID=1253247 part of article: "Millers need new recruits Williamson return proves only bright spot for Harford Robert Gledhill at Millmoor Rotherham United 1 Colchester United 2 LEAGUE ONE MICK HARFORD will make desperate attempts to bring in a couple of loan signings this week after nine league games without a win for the Millers. Rotherham are in danger of a second successive relegation and manager Harford's attempts to pull them out of their nosedive have not been helped by the board's dictum that players will have to leave before others can be brought in. To that end, it will be interesting to see what today's talks with Barnsley officials produce as Paolo Vernazza could be on his way to Oakwell and the future of Barry Conlon will also be discussed. The striker has signed on loan for three months but now requires a knee operation and the terms of his move will be under the microscope."
Also in todays YP Barry Conlon has been told that no-one wants to pay his wages. He needs a knee operation 5 weeks into his 3 month loan and could be out for the rest of the season. Rotherham want Barnsley to pay his wages and Barnsley have told them to "forget it" Barnsley General Manager Don Rowing said " We are not in the business of sending injured players out on loan. Rotherham say that he was injured prior to going - but we suspect he has done it over there." He goes on to say that they are currently talking to physios and specialists who say he was fit enough to play when he went out on loan. Barry Conlon will have to consult the Professional Footballers' Association if the matter cannot be resolved quickly.
Midfielder isn't he? If so, I doubt we'd be after him. 4 from Shuker, Devaney, Howard, McPhail and Burns looks more than adequate to me. Plus we've got Kell regaining fitness, Kay who can step up from the back, Robbie Williams and Jarman who can do a job on the left and Nicky Wroe. If we can secure Watt on a longer-term loan deal the only place I would be looking to strengthen would be up front. Specifically a goal scorer. They're pretty hard to find like and not cheap. Chopra on loan?
RE: Midfielder isn't he? Think this might be a misprint. He was on trial with Barnet over the last few days.
Feel sorry for Conlon, but Good on Barnsley standing their ground. Rotherham took him on loan, he played for them and scored so he must have been fit. We shouldn't be expected to pay the wages of a player with a contract at another club; injured or otherwise.
mate of mine is a miller and he says that he is absolute toss. doubt that it is true to be honest and i hope it isnt.
Officially ******** IMHO We are snided with midfielders. Cant see us signing one that cant get into rovrum side.
