Shame both Manc clubs have been drawn together. Potentially deprived two not so rich clubs of much needed revenue.
I don't think it's a very good draw for us It's a premier league team, so it's going to be extremely tough, but it's a premier league team who won't aren't going to attract many casual Barnsley fans and they're not going to bring many fans up themselves. We're not going to get a bumper crowd, but we are going to have to face a very good team. At least we're at home, but apart from that I can't think of a tougher tie that has less appeal.
Re: I don't think it's a very good draw for us If you look at it from a commercial point of view, I agree that it's not much of a money-spinner. From that side of things, a home tie against one of the Sheffield clubs would have been ideal - big crowd and a good chance of progressing. However, from a footballing perspective, I think it's superb - a tough but winnable tie and one that I'm sure our lads will be really up for, having the chance to test themselves against Premier League opposition. I just hope that Swansea are going to send their first team rather than concentrating on staying up. I also hope that we fare rather better than we did twelve months earlier when we were comprehensively outplayed by West Ham's reserves.
Re: I don't think it's a very good draw for us I disagree....I think its a good draw....prem team, at home and a very winnable game...Will we be expected to win anywhere outside Barnsley?...don't think so, so no pressure on us, just go out and have a good go...should be a great game... As for the gate....ST holders will have to pay...but if we price it right there should be a decent turnout...I'd pay 20 quid to watch that any day...
From a footballing point of view It's a good draw. Commercially, less so. Two teams who like to play the game the right way, in my opinion. Also, I don't think progress in the FA Cup will be the highest priority for Swansea this season, with the possibility of them fielding a bit of an under strength team.
Re: From a footballing point of view Not going to attract the TV cameras either. Once again, It will be a Leeds tie.
It seems ages since I saw an FA Cup tie at Oakwell But that may also be due to my rapidly failing memory!!
Re: It seems ages since I saw an FA Cup tie at Oakwell Chelsea by my reckoning! Last four have all been away from Oakwell, during which we've scored a grand total of zero and conceded seven. Muggins here has been to all four.
Re: It seems ages since I saw an FA Cup tie at Oakwell Im sorry but i wont be willing to pay 20 quid these are the games that should be our 5 quid an adult a quid a kid this is a perfect game to attract the crowd with them prices and if we beat prem opposition with a crowd in the region on 18 thousand at cheap tickets it might see us with a few more bums on seats for our champ games. IMO this is the chance we need to get people back through the gates if the club put the RIGHT ticket prices on.
