Classic away performance. Something you very rarely see from a Barnsley team. Nicked the early goal then defended brilliantly and tried to pick them off on the break. Don't let the games scrappy nature fool you though we could have won that game by 4 or 5. If Hammill was playing we would have done. Better finishing from Fletcher and Brownhill and we would have been out of sight. Our final ball let us down on a number of occasions too. Bradford pushed forward back end of the first half and all second half but in all honesty they never really looked like scoring. The only way they were going to get a goal was from a set peice or individual error. They got there chance when a Hourihane put Davo under pressure who fluffed his lines. Luckily the finish was poor and we got away with one there. Big credit to Davies though on the night who other than that mistake made some very could catches from crosses coming in at pace. Our 3 stand our players on the night were Marley and the 2 fullbacks. In James Bree we've got something really special. The boy just oozes class. Williams stuck to his task all night and put in 3-4 crunching but fair tackles on there right winger who was their main threat all night. My MOM though went to Marley who after his goal just never stopped running. We missed his presence up front if I'm honest but he does a cracking job on that right side too. Great performance from the reds and top marks to LJ for keeping this run going in a tricky fixture. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
So glad that Marley is winning more and more people over. He's a very good footballer in my eyes alongside his running and never say die attitude he has. He's much more than a battler and when he plays up front he knows when to hold the ball so we can get out and when to lay it off to start a counter attack. He rushes defenders and most of them in this league and some higher up have no composure or vision on the ball, he gains us throw ins, corners, free kicks and poor clearances due to it. Hope he stays fit, we're so much better when he plays.
Agree. He's probably the most intelligent footballer in our squad. Excellent team player who is fast becoming one of the first names on the team sheet. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
Completely agree with that assertion. Bradford will consider themselves unlucky not to get a point but for all their possession they created little, where-as we had at least 4 chances in the second half to put the game to bed but last ditch blocks and some poor finishing kept it at 1-0. Williams and Bree were superb again.
Couldn't put my own thoughts down better than this. Good read and agree with all you say. The work on both flanks by the wingers and full backs was top drawer. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
