Gutted that my lad and me are missing Wembley. His junior football team are on tour in Salou/Barcelona, fly out on the Saturday. So it'll be a bar and big screen with 43 others.

But, time to reflect on yesterday and the last 25 games or so. Immense pride stood on the away end yesterday watching a team in total control of the game yet again. No mercenaries in this team, playing for the manager and the fans, every single one of them. It's been a privilege to watch a set of players care, match in match out, allied to that helpful attribute of actually having some football ability, something that's been rare in recent years. We just go out to win matches, let the opposition worry about us. I've not seen a better side than us since before Christmas, probably Southend playing the best of anyone against us.

There's a quote in a Ronnie Glavin interview from a South Riding fanzine circa 1990 about the 80/81 promotion squad. Basically says that the whole squad and manager felt they'd win every game they played and he'd seen opponents virtually sh!tting themselves in the warm up about playing Barnsley. And how every player had the total respect of the others - Ray McHale telling Ronnie he'd cover for him and not to worry about tracking back but to keep getting him a win bonus. 1981 and Hunter is 2016 and Hecky.

Having your pride restored in your home town football team is a wonderful feeling. The level we're at is irrelevant. Irrespective of what happens on Sunday 29th May it's something to savour. And I think everyone connected with the club can take pride in it.

So whilst it'll not be the same as being at Wembley, there'll be 45 of us sat in red and proud of it in Salou. It's been a while but boy has it been worth waiting for. COYR

you are a top man in my book Sir

your devotion to your lad is obvious... and that's why I give you my total RESPECT... Hope your lad gets to play at a higher level someday and make you proud ..just as your home town side has done this term and on quite a few other terms.... I bet you would love it if he were to represent Barnsley FC one day... my prayers are totally praying that for you.... YOOOOOOO REDDDDZZZZ

    Kind words, cheers.

Aye, he's a good lad. Love watching him play. Arse like John Hendrie and as good a finisher. We'd all love our kids to wear the BFC red. One of his mates may well do. My lad, won't happen, but loves the game. And happy to watch him on a lousy Sunday on a bobbly pitch.

    Enjoy Wembley.
