Full apology to both clubs questioning whether the decision to move was the right one for his family. Thanked barnsley for their handling and understanding of the situation. Found this in a report. The apology to Barnsley is not included but is on my what'sapp page. Unable to transfer That I had the opportunity to leave is no secret, and the idea of leaving has gone through my head quite a few times in recent months. When I left Deventer, I immediately got a bad feeling and started to question whether this was right for me and my family,” said the forward.
You can't say fairer than that. If he felt deep down it wasn't right then better for all concerned not to go ahead than to sign anyway and then regret it soon after. Fair play to him, it's not always easy to apologise, especially in public.
I said yesterday, the explanation given and the reaction and tone of Clarkes comments made it feel an authentic reason. Fair play to the lad for apologising. Really would have liked to have seen him sign but such is life. Best of luck for the future Victor, and hope you find the right outcome personally and for your family. Hopefully our 'fans' can ease off the spite juice for a bit now.
Think it’s worked out the best for everyone concerned tbh. Would have become our issue had he agreed the move etc.
Credit to the lad if he has apologised but I think one was due. He's entitled to change his mind but a lot of work and probably money has gone into the transfer to point it had got to nobody kidnapped him and brought him over here.
And to think some on here wanted people sacked over him not signing. Valuable lesson for all of us to not jump to conclusions.
Perhaps he came across your own description of Barnsley as posted on here awhile ago, and thought that the town was not for him
Perhaps he thought that if there were people queueing up to support a corruscating and unjustified hatchet job on the town, for which there has been no apology, then yes he’s better off where he is.
