Hi chaps Rochdale fan here. Love the humour on this forum and I've even started texting in Barnsley-speak. Anyway, some thoughts.... 1. Keith Hill is remembered at Dale as a brilliant manager but personality-wise, still splits the fanbase due to his arrogance, third-person speak, silly coats and various witticisms which began to grate over time. You were warned. 2. We all love Scott Wiseman and would love to have him back. There is no way in the world he is a centre back though, as you've seen. You may or may not know that he was actually released by KH the season before we went up but was then re-signed when our other right back buggered off to Bradford. 3. Dagnall, Kennedy and Done are not Championship quality; Perkins probably is. 4. There are other Dale players who've moved on to better things and succeeded: Murray, Le Fondre, Lambert, Holt, Dawson and Gilks are all doing well in the Prem or Championship. Just in case you think all our exes are bobbins. 5. KH is fixated on tippy-tappy football. We were losing to Luton on ITV a few years ago in the Cup with five minutes to go, and still managed to pass it from right back to left back via both centre halves and then back to the keeper. It's one example which sticks in my head and sums up his principles which are fine on paper but every now and again, you need a plan B. Nowt worse than being predictable. 6. I think too many of you have accepted that you have to be a poor second-tier outfit with no hope of glory ever again. It's like how public servants get the blame for the recession rather than the bankers. Say it enough times and people will believe it. 7. When you sack KH and appoint our current manager, be prepared for him to bring in his ex-players from Accrington. Anyway, I hope he gets the boot and does have to shop at Aldi for a bit. That way, I'll stop wanting BFC to lose. You're an alright bunch. I'll si'thi' LB.
The thing is, Keith has had fantastic support from the Barnsley fans over the last year and a half...in the last league game against Burnley, Keith Hill's Red White Army was still being sung from the Ponty End. We want Keith to be successful but it's a results based business and it aint happening for him. The final nail in the coffin has been playing his mates from Rochdale...jokes on the coach coming back from Watford today was that we should go home via Rochdale and drop the likes of Wiseman back off at Spotland. It's Just Like Watching Rochdale was also sung in the away end today when we were 4 - 0 down so that's what we think of your football Si thi next season if you get promoted and we get relegated...or have you accepted you are going to have another 40 odd year stint in the fourth-tier?
Fantastic first post! Please stick around. You'll fit right in here. Bluebird (Cardiff City fan who's been posting on here for years) liked it so much, he got his team to change their colours to red shirts!
