I thought that Gilligham were an appauling side who were there for the taking but Ritchie and his ultra-negative tactics saw us make hard work of what should have been a comfortable victory. Hayes played resonably well when shunted out onto the left wing in what was one of the most bizzare tactical changes i've seen for quite some time, why he brought Richards on i can't understand at all!. Williams was poor, short of pace and looked overweight. Reid and Austin looked comfortable and dealt with Gillingham's so-called attacks very well. Tommy Wright should have had an hat trick but was extremley poor in front of goal but hopefully the guy will improve. Shuker was very ineffective but he took his goal very well. McPhail was very poor and was another one who looked overweight and uninterested and Burns even worse and these two should be dropped immediatley. However on the positive side Richard Kell was very good in the role he had in midfield, he was comfortable on the ball, could spray it about a bit and was excellent in the tackle and him and a once fit again Howard would be the ideal two in centre midfield. The 'Paul Hart fan club'(the people i attend the games with) had started going on again about how every home game they have seen this season has been ***** and we were much better off keeping Hart. They also insist that anybody who thinks that McPhail isn't the best player at Oakwell for the last 5 years knows nothing about football. Words fail me, they really do, but i don't let them bother me lol!!! Anyway another win no matter how uninspiring and lets hope for a good win at the Vale at the weekend!!
i dont see as it was ultra negative more that he had a weakened side and he could either aim not to lose and hope for the best or play attacking and get **** on.
im dreading the vale game on setdi. I seem to remember loosing to them on the three occasions we met last season :S
beg to differ not sure what you base it on but after a slow start McPhail had one of his best games this season-he seemed up for it and worked hard all night as well as producing a few excellent passes-Burns was his usual steady self
RE: beg to differ McPhail definitely did better than on Saturday but then that wouldn't be difficult! He even tried the idea of tackling a few times - it's always good to try something new!!!
WHAT??? There are people who believe we would have been better keeping Paul Hart???? - Surely not? Forget about smoking and hooligans ... it's clearly people that stupid we need to keep away from Oakwell!
