    Sorted, got till then to convince her Aston is truely a charming and romantic destination, it's on a par with Venice really it is.

    or simply tell her you've booked a villa on Valentines Day.
    Just avoid telling her exactly where it is and then on the day as you approach Birmingham you can tell her it's her fault for not asking. Women can be a bit thick you know.

    That's probably true. The centre of Birmingham had been very nicely upgraded last time I went there. Canalside is spectacular - bars, restaurants and the Symphony Hall. Very nice place to stroll around in the evening.

    Digbeth and Aston though - different story!
