    RE: Care to elaborate? nt

For most of the past twenty-four hours my Internet hasn't worked. In the times it has worked it's been woefully, and I mean woefully, slow.

Since Beardie Branson took over (yeah, yeah - I know he might not own the company but if I can't spit vitriol at him, who can I spit vitriol at?!) the service has just got slower and slower.

Time I stopped giving him money for shag all in return, methinks...

    Ok

Internet ok for me, although it has been slow on occasions.
Was without a phone service for a week and got the grumpiest engineer to fix it yesterday, thought my door was coming in when he knocked on it, probably not happy at having to do an evening call!

    RE: Ok

I've been on Telewest / Blueyonder since the Autumn of 2003 - it had its off-days but, by and large, downtime was minimal and the performance was always good. Because of this, and the fact I'd heard less than flattering stories about other service providers, I was quite happy to carry on paying my twenty-five / thirty quid rather than sign up to cheaper alternatives.

Better the Devil you know, 'n' all that.

If Virgin keeps up like this, that attitide might change...

...can't say a wrong word about 'em. Fastest speeds in the UK, no download caps...might not exactly be the cheapest but there you go...

    Is this the £10 service?

You mentioned £25/30 in your later post.

    TIA,
    Stephen

No, I'd be less annoyed if it were - I think I pay £25 a month, when I first signed up it were £30 but they lowered the price about twelve months later...

    Same as mine

Been with them for broadband and phone for about 3 years, Sky on main TV, got basic channels free from TW for a year so had that in the bedroom and the box regularly froze and had to be reset, consequently I won't consider switching TV from Sky.
Pay £25 for the 4Mb broadband and I think it's £11 for the phone.

Like I said, mate - I've never had a complaint and was quite happy to pay extra for the perks whether I used them or not. I've needed the Internet for uni / work over the years and the fact that the connection very seldom became unavailable (especially compared to other providers that friends and family have used) was worth the monthly fee to me.

Past few months, though, it just seems to have got slower and slower and is frequently unavailable (if only for short spells) and I'm beginning to question whether it's really worth that extra tenner.

just after they dug up evertywhere for the cables, Never had a complaint that wasnt put straight very quickly, and pleasantly. Only grouse I have is the cost.

Ah, that £10 goes up to £18 after 12 months

I pay £21.99 with plusnet. Obviously, I have the BT standard line rental on top of that....

The connection needs to be a good one - as occasionally, I use the VPN at work. So not really worth the risk for me.

    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Get with orange mate

Free 2meg if you have a mobile with orange or pay a fiver more a month for 8meg. I pay £30 per month for my phone and calls/texts and the broadband is free as are evening and weekend calls on my landline.

Ive never had any bother with the broadband service.
