Virus Help Please--Urgent

i have the norton symbol flashing at the bottom of my computor, saying virus alert which it cant deal with
its a Trojan Peacomm,
any help or suggestions greatly apppreciated,
ps i am not very computor literate,

think it was a virus outbreak alert

it was just that the link from Norton said click here to deal with/ protect against but it didnt seem to do anything saying not protected against rapidly spreading threats, i assumed that if we dont open an attachment we would be ok????????????////
