    The reason is

    lots and lots of white alcohol or &quot;vodka&quot; is produced by the scottish distillers.</p>

    The jocko's think &quot;whisky is sacrosanct but hey its only vodka why can't we brew the stuff?&quot;</p>

    I feckin' despise the (largely) insular, chip on shoulder tw@ts.</p>

    Where does Russia fit into this? I always thoight it was their national brew.

    I agree with them on this, vodka should be made out of spuds, the Scots would be the first up in arms if whisky was being made from non-traditional ingredients.

    The comments on radio this morning from the Scottish vodka industry (which supplies 75% of vodka consumed in this country apparently) was how it could cost jobs....no just make it from spuds, I'm sure we can produce enough of those in the country!
