Nothing new there tbh I think most people knew this but unfortunately we have to have millions spent on research before the the penny can finally drop. The thing about it is it's supposed to be a coalition govt not a full blown Tory one which in effect is what we have really had. Every policy the libs have boasted to help the poor Tory policies have blown them out of the water with others. It will take years for the lower earners to recover from the last recession and some will never recover. The Tories believe that the richest should be left to plunder our resources and the eventual trick!e down wil help the poorest. What a set of greedy w@ncers. but no doubt there'll be some who claim to be lower middle and working class trumpeting their policies\ existence.
That guy is lovely person of the highest order... the problem is he may well be chancellor in 12 months time, with Farage as foreign secretary ....
Biggest set of counts (predictive text) in politics in my lifetime (56 years tomorrow). Ed M might be geeky, but he's not Cameron/Osborne - and that's enough in my book.
Does anybody think things would have been significantly better if Labour had won the last election? They've said themselves that further cuts would be needed and that they won't undo any cuts implemented under this government. I'm not defending anybody here (or attacking anybody for that matter) but when you look at our options for government you soon realise how thoroughly depressing the situation is.
It just begs the question how the hell does anyone but the richest 5-10% of society vote Tory? And answering his own question Wilko sez - 'it's because the tories (by & large) own the 'free press' of this country and dictate what people think!
Unfortunately Labour has lost the Scottish vote. Their abysmal conduct during the Independence Election and the getting into bed with the Tories and the other lot has done nothing for their creditability here. Without the Scots vote there will nothing to stop the Tories remaining in power. Sad but true I'm afraid.
I think the burden of cuts would have been shared far more equally with those able to afford it having to pay their way rather than it be left to the poorest in society. There is no doubt action had to be taken, whoever was in government, but the Tories have made the poor even poorer and it has got to the point where people can no longer afford to feed their families and have to rely on food banks. For a country of our resources, that is unacceptable. I do not believe for a second that would have happened under a Labour government. I understand why people may not like the Labour party, but the first priority for any government is to feed the population which the present incumbents have failed to do. Many UK residents have been saved from starvation under this Tory government due to the generosity of other working people and I'm not over-egging that. IMHO it's criminal this has been allowed to happen while David Cameron and George Osborne have repeated we're all in it together. We're not, they've taken away from the most vulnerable and in many cases left them without the means to buy food.
By and large its hard to tell the difference between the centre right parties at the heart of our political system. The way the coalition has demonized disabled people and made their existence much worse is a true blight on our nation. I'm generally very lroud to be British this has made me ashamed. So I guess that's the main difference for me.
