Contador is supposedly fit to ride but I can't see it myself as it is only six weeks since he broke his shin bone. Could be Froome's year for me. He will be certainly fitter than Contador as his injuries would not have been as restrictive in terms of his training so he could be in peak condition. What chance 43 year old Chris Horner retains the title? Can't see it after riding the TdF but stranger things have happened.
With two time trials and a team time trial I would say Froome, but I like Quintana and would love to see him win it. Certainly going to be interesting to see who comes out on top in the mountain stages.
It will be interesting to see who the team leader will be for Movistar? Probably be Valverde as I think they would prefer a Spaniard to win.
Not many riders I dont take a liking to, but he is one of em. Mountain stages will decide, when we see the familiar scene of Valverde dropping of the back of the Peloton. Dont think Moviestar will put all their eggs in one basket.
Just noticed the time trials are quite short and they have almost 3 mountain top finishes on consecutive days. One has a slight downhill section over the top. Probably why Quintana is bookies favourite. Come on the Columbian.
After backing Valverde in the TDF and him not performing to podium standard (4th) I cant see Movistar backing him at the expense of Quintana, have they announced him in the team, thought he might have raced the tour of Britain. If Froome has got in some decent training he could do well...... how about Garmin for a winner with Dan Martin and Ryder Hesjedal?...or as a longer shot Uran but I gues OPQS will be working for sprint wins for Cav...again if fully recovered.......anyway should be a good 3 weeks with some unexpected top riders this year
You've got to give him credit where it's due though - in all his Grand Tours he has only finished outside the top ten once.
Cant knock em for what they do James, but IMO he aint aggressive enough, going back in earlier Vueltas it was as though he was happy with a podium place rather than going for the ultimate.
True. He's a bit like Evans in that he's quite happy to sit on someone's back wheel rather than go on the attack.
Fabio Aru each way at 40/1 with bet 365 Just had £10 EW. Third in Giro, rested for quite a while and just done warm up in Tour of Poland, going to be in the mix for a place.
Froome & Quintana to battle it out for the win. Uran & Aru to battle it out for 3rd. Valverde, Rodriguez, Gesink, Arroyo, Hesjedal & a couple of others to battle it out for the rest of the spots in the top 10. Looking forward to seeing how Kennaugh rides in support of Froome. Hopefully he'll end up been good enough to lead at races like this in the future
