Anyone on here got one? Just test driven one and what a massive disappointment that was.

How much do they cost? What didn't you like about it?

I just had a Golf GT Sport 2.0 TDi Automatic on hire for two weeks. It was fast, but for a car that costs £21k I was suprised that it didn't have things such a climate control and (even) controls for the radio on the steering wheel.

The trip computer calculations were also dubious - despite the fact it was reading 50mpg it seemed to be guzzling the fuel.

Brand new they're about 15k, but I test drove an 06 plate which was up for 12k. For such a small car, it makes 150bhp which is impressive but it felt so heavy to drive, the gearbox was clunky, it wasn't the easiest for changing gear and the steering/handling was awful. It was pretty powerful though, which did impress me, but it was so uncomfortable to drive, felt like I was boxed into a tight space. Definitely not worth the 15k brand new anyway.

Try BMW 320 tD instead. Far far better car.

A slightly older Golf GTI would be much more impressive. nt

A brand new one would do me but can't justify the money, yet. nt

Might look into that, I'm just having a look at the whole market at the moment, but VW don't win many points for the Polo GTi.

    Next on the list...

Maybe a Ford ST. I'm not too sure if I like it or not though.

    I was looking at...

Either the Leon Supra or even the Ibiza diesel turbo.

    Brother has the Leon

he loves it. He had Golf GTI before and the Leon is way better.

I like the diesel engines, very nippy and quiet. plenty of mpg too.

    The reason for the diesel

would be for all the trips to and from Barnsley.

I was really looking forward to driving the Polo GTi though, the concept really impressed me, until I actually drove it...

I've actually got a Seat at the moment, great cars.

    You have the Ibiza?

I think they are far better than VW.
There was an Ibiza for sale in Edinburgh, converted to LPG. LPG is 44p a litre, that makes that car fantastic value to drive.
we have a Rover 75 LPG conversion , great to drive same power and fuel economy, but less than £25 to fill.

    Ibiza 1.2

Great little car, but not so great for what I use a car for, wouldn't mind test driving the 1.9 Diesel turbo...maybe next weekend, plus the Leon Supra is on the list for test drives!

Ideally I'd go and buy a Honda Civic Type S GT 2.2 Diesel Turbo...especially after I test drove one and all I can say is WOW! But 18 grand kinda puts me off a bit!
