Not strictly true from what we've heard. It seems like the philosophy of living within our means will remain and the club will continue to balance the books, which is prudent. However, if the new owners can bring in additional revenue through increased sponsorship and their networks abroad, then our revenue will rise and spending on players and wages will also rise, not to mention our ability to hold on to existing players on longer term contracts. If revenue stays the same then yes, it seems as though the wage budget will too. However, it doesn't seem likely that revenue will stay stagnant.
Well we should have a healthy surplus so hopefully the new owners might be willing to 're invest some of it. Time will tell.
But we're gonna keep the wage budget the same? It doesn't matter if we have £100 million to spend, we'll still only be signing League 1 and League 2 players.
If he came out and said we had a bit to spend agents would be breaking their necks to get the top wages and we'd be held to ransom. This model is not working, it needs investment and this board don't want relegation and a £6 million loss plus a lot of lost revenue in gate receipts. They'll give him what he needs.
